COLUMBUS - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's basketball team opens the 2022-23 season on the road against the GLVC favorite, the Indianapolis Greyhounds on Friday (Nov. 11) at Nicoson Hall.
The Panthers and Greyhounds will tip off at 7:30 PM in a battle of Midwest Region opponents on opening weekend.

OPENING TIPOFF
- The Panthers will be under the direction of Kelly Winter, in his fourth year.
- Ohio Dominican finished the 2021-22 season with a 7-21 overall mark and 4-16 in conference play. The Panthers dropped their last five games of 2022 and have lost six straight games on the road, dating back to last February.
- Winter will return ten players that saw time on the court and 13 players total with Ohio Dominican playing experience.
- Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) (13.5 PPG) and Sean Marks (Delaware, Ohio) (13.2 PPG) are both back after scoring in double figures.
- The team brings back four of the top five rebounders and three of the top six shooters in terms of field goal percentage.
- Others returning include Brandon Gibson II (Dayton, Ohio), Matt Hall (Evanston, Illinois), and Mitch Wilkinson (Grand Rapids, Michigan), who all saw time in the starting lineup.
- Keshawn Heard (Newark, Ohio) joins the Panthers after playing at West Georgia the last two years.
- Ohio Dominican were picked tenth in the 2022-23 Great Midwest Preseason Coaches Poll as voted on by the conference's 12 head coaches, compiling 33 points.
- The lone All-Conference (Second Team) performer from the 2021-22 season, Alek West, departs after leading the Panthers with 16.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG and 5.7 APG.
- UIndy and Ohio Dominican have met once in the program history in the 2019-20 season opener. The Greyhounds were victorious 71-69 at Cedarville.
- ODU is 6-6 in season openers in the Division II era.
ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS

The Indianapolis Greyhounds are hosting two Great Midwest teams at Nicoson Hall for the 2022-23 opening weekend.

In the 2021-22 season, UIndy went 19-11 overall and 10-8 in the GLVC. The Hounds played in the GLVC Championship game against Missouri-St. Louis, who made a run to the Sweet 16 last March.

As voted on by the head coaches of the GLVC, the Greyhounds were voted as the preseason favorite. UIndy received 136 points and seven first-place votes of the 13 head coaches.

UIndy will return All-GLVC Second Team honoree Jesse Bingham, who was also named All-Defensive Team last season as he averaged 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Overall, the Hounds have seven players from the 2021-22 squad back that played and ten overall.

The Greyhounds bring back two of the top three scorers from the 2021-22 team along with four of the top five rebounders and three of the top five assist leaders. Kendrick Tchoua was in double-figures with 10.2 points and 6.6 rebounds while shooting 61.3% from the floor.

The incoming class for the Greyhounds include three transfers. Jarvis Walker (Purdue Fort Wayne), Bruno Williams (Lewis) and David Ejah (Saint Francis)

Williams averaged 12.1 points at Lewis last season as an All-GLVC Second Team selection before joining the Hounds.

Ejah was an All-America Honorable Mention candidate last season after averaging 19.9 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game at Saint Francis.

UIndy was receiving votes in the preseason NABC poll along with Midwest Region schools Ferris State, Hillsdale, Findlay, Missouri-St. Louis and Wayne State.

The Greyhounds were tabbed 23rd in the inaugural D2SIDA national poll along with second in the Midwest Region.

Paul Corsaro is in his third season as head coach, compiling a 30-23 record.
