CANTON, Ohio – Opening a two-game road trip to end the regular season, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (19-8, 13-6 G-MAC) looked to manage a season split with the Malone Pioneers (14-13, 7-12 G-MAC) on Thursday (Feb. 26) night at Osborne Hall.
Malone forced an extra overtime period with a late second-half run but the Panthers held off the Pioneers for a 79-74 win, their sixth straight win. With the win, Ohio Dominican has clinched a spot in the 2026 G-MAC Tournament – the first berth since 2020.

- Carson Seemann led the Panthers with 19 points as one of two players in double-figures. He was five-of-eight shooting with a perfect nine-of-nine at the free throw line while adding five rebounds and three assists. Seemann scored all ten points in overtime for the Panthers, including eight free throws.
- Derek Goodman scored 14 points on six field goals and two three pointers.
- Elijah Hinton made all four field goals for a nine-point night with five rebounds.
- Caleb Conard neared a double-double with seven points and nine rebounds while also blocking four shots – a career-high.
- Kenny Scott and Logan Ryan both scored eight points off the bench. Both players made three field goals (two threes). Scott grabbed three rebounds with four assists and three steals.
- Kyler Krull scored five points while Terrance Broughton, Zac Kimball and Brady Moore all made a three pointer.
- Ohio Dominican shot 47.5% (29-61) overall, 44.4% (12-27) from deep and 75% (9-12) from the free throw line.
- Malone had a shooting clip of 41.5% (27-65), 32.4% (11-34) and 69.2% (9-13).
- The Panthers were in double-figures for threes for the sixth time this season – finishing with 12 threes.
- With eight threes made in the first half (of 15 attempts), ODU tied the season-high for threes in a half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- ODU scored five of the first seven points in the first minute of the game, leading 5-2.
- In a near two-minute span, Malone went on a 7-2 run to hold a 9-7 lead with 17:10 left in the first half.
- A quick 7-0 spurt with a three pointer by Ryan allowed ODU to regain the lead and lead 14-9 with 15:21 remaining.
- The Pioneers got the lead down to one point twice at 14-13 and 17-16.
- ODU made four three pointers on a 14-4 run as the Panthers led 31-20 with six minutes before halftime.
- Malone made one last run in the first half as they closed the gap to 33-28 with eight of the next ten points scored.
- Seemann scored four points and Scott drilled a three pointer for a 7-0 run and an 40-28 lead for the Panthers one minute before the half.
- Malone added a late three pointer and trailed 40-31 at the break.
- ODU outshot Malone 55.2% (16-29) to 41.4% (12-29) from the floor while shooting 53.3% (8-15) from deep compared to Malone at 35.7% (5-14).
- Conard tallied the first five points of the half, including a three pointer from the top of the key that helped ODU lead 47-37 at the under-16 media timeout.
- Malone trimmed five points off at 47-42 before two threes from Kimball and Scott, respectively and a Ryan layup had ODU up 55-44 with 12:53 left.
- Two minutes later, Malone trailed 55-48 but ODU outscored Malone 12-5 with seven points from Goodman as the largest ODU lead was 67-53 with 5:48 left in regulation.
- The Pioneers closed the second half with a 16-2 run, forcing overtime at 69 on some drama. Malone's Tate Aljancic made a three pointer with .5 seconds left to put Malone ahead 70-69. After video review, the three was overturned to a two pointer and the game was back tied.
- Malone took one point leads at 70-69 and 72-71 but the Panthers answered both times with Seemann making a pair of free throws. His free throws with 2:30 left gave the Panthers a lead they would not relinquish.
- Seemann's ten points in overtime led the Panthers to a 79-74 win in overtime.

The final regular season contest will put Ohio Dominican and Lake Erie in a battle of two of the hottest teams in the league. Both teams are undefeated in February and will face off in Painesville on Saturday (Feb. 28) at 3:00 PM.
