COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team continues a busy week of play with a home game against Lake Erie on Monday, Jan. 24.
The Panthers and Storm will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. inside Alumni Hall.
OPENING TIP-OFF
- Ohio Dominican is set to open a six-game homestand against Lake Erie, which includes three games at Alumni Hall this week.
- Entering Monday, the Panthers have played eight of their last nine games away from home, a stretch that included three wins.
- The Panthers are just 1-3 at home this winter, but in its most recent outing in Alumni Hall, gave GMAC-leading Malone all it could handle before ultimately falling 75-70.
- Monday will be the first meeting of the season between Lake Erie and ODU, and is a make-up contest from a COVID-19 postponement from earlier in the month.
- Kelly Winter is 3-1 against Lake Erie as the head coach of ODU.
- Since the calendar turned to January, Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) has scored in double figures in five-of-six games.
- West is averaging 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists over the stretch, a run that includes two of his three double-doubles this season.
- In ODU's last home outing West tied a 26-year-old program record with 12 assists against Malone.
- Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) has joined West as a co-anchor of the ODU offense of late, averaging 15.2 points over the past six games.
- Since the start of January, Szul is shooting 44.9 percent from the field, nearly five percentage points above his season average.
- The Panthers have 10 different starting lineup combinations this season, but the quartet of Szul, West, Arius Jones (Lansing, Mich.) and Mitch Wilkinson (Grand Rapids, Mich.) have all started together in the past four games.
- Matt Hall (Evanston, Ill.) is coming off his first start of the year at Tiffin on Saturday.
ABOUT LAKE ERIE
- Lake Erie is one of seven teams in the 11-team G-MAC to have a winning overall record entering play this week, as the Storm are 8-7.
- Lake Erie though, currently sits in eighth place in the G-MAC standings with a 2-6 mark.
- The Storm have found most of their success at home this year and are just 1-4 in road games as they head to Columbus.
- LEC is averaging 71.3 points per game, but on the road, its season scoring average is down to 63.8 points per outing.
- Jordan Burton and Jonny Manning lead the Storm offensive attack at 14.7 points and 11.9 points per game, respectively.
- Burton has reached 10-plus points in his last nine outings, while also leading LEC in assists this winter, 4.2 per game.
- Manning is among the conference leaders with one block per game, while also pacing the Storm on the glass with 6.4 rebounds per contest.
- Leon Hughes and Kevin Peterson join Burton and Manning as the only four Storm players to appear in all 15 games this season.
