Panthers End 2024-25 Season With Cedarville Sweep

COLUMBUS, Ohio -  The Ohio Dominican Panthers (10-18, 6-14 G-MAC) men's basketball team concluded the 2024-25 season with a home finale inside Alumni Hall on Saturday (March 1) afternoon. 

Ohio Dominican completed a season sweep with the Cedarville Yellow Jackets (12-15, 7-13 G-MAC) with a 77-75 win on Senior Day. This was the first season sweep of the Yellow Jackets in the Division II era. 

BOX SCORE NOTES
  • Elijah Hinton was one of two Panthers with a 20-point and seven rebound effort on Saturday. Hinton made nine-of-14 shots from the floor with one three pointer and free throw. He made two steals and one block. 
  • Derek Goodman matched Hinton off the bench. Goodman had seven field goals, three threes and a trio of free throws. 
  • Brady Moore shot six-of-nine overall for a 15 point afternoon. 
  • Terrance Broughton dished out ten assists with six points and three steals. His ten assists were tied for 4th most in the Division II era. 
  • Zac Kimball scored four points, three rebounds and three steals.
  • Carson Seemann had four points on all free throws with four boards and two steals. 
  • Antonio Carter and Jaylan Green scored four and two points, respectively on Senior Day. 
  • Ohio Dominican shot 48.4% from the floor in the game, making 31-of-64 field goals. Cedarville edged the Panthers in the field goal category with a 49.1% percentage, going 26-of-53 from the field.
  • The Yellow Jackets made 14 threes to Ohio Dominican's five. 
  • Seven different players had at least two steals as the Panthers tallied 17 steals of 21 turnovers. The 17 steals was a single-game record in the Division II era. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cedarville started fast with a 5-0 lead and pushed the lead to as many as eight in the first six minutes (12-4 and 14-6).
  • As the Panthers trailed 14-6, they went on a 9-0 run to take a 15-14 lead before the under-12 media timeout.
  • The teams exchanged the lead multiple times and tied twice before Cedarville took a 29-26 lead with 4:21 left. 
  • ODU got two threes on a 10-0 run for the Panthers to lead 36-29 and took a 40-34 advantage into halftime. 
  • The Panthers held the lead at two possessions for the first four minutes of the second half but Cedarville took the lead with 14:55 left on a three pointer. 
  • Cedarville's lead lasted until a 7-0 run for the Panthers turned a 59-56 deficit into a 63-59 lead with under nine minutes.  
    • Goodman scored four points on the run with Hinton scoring three points.
  • Ohio Dominican led by six twice in the final six minutes before Cedarville tied the game at 72 with a three pointer at the three minute mark. 
  • With 2:05 left, Moore hit a three pointer to give the Panthers a 75-72 lead. 
  • Cedarville got within two points and came up empty on three different possessions to try and win the game. ODU won 77-75.
