Box Score VIENNA, W.VA – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team fell to Ohio Valley University on Monday evening by the score of 93-72.
Freshman Mitch Wilkinson (Grand Rapids, Michigan) compiled another strong performance, scoring 15 points and finishing one rebound shy of collecting his first career double-double at the collegiate level. Wilkinson got the Panthers off on the right foot to begin the game. The first-year forward earned an old-fashioned three-point play to start the game positively for the Black and Gold.
Classmate Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) also contributed by draining a few key buckets during the opening moments of the game. The freshman's three-pointer six minutes into the contest gave the visitors their first lead of the contest. Szul finished with a team-high 20 points and also added two steals.
ODU saw its lead grow to as much as three points before Ohio Valley orchestrated a 12-2 run to recapture the lead and grow it to ten points midway through the first half.
The Black and Gold attempted to claw its way back into the game. Freshman Brandon Gibson II (Dayton, Ohio) tallied 13 points and three rebounds coming off the bench. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Panthers fall to their conference foes.
Both squads will meet again on Saturday afternoon but will reconvene inside of Alumni Hall. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from Sunbury Road.
