Panther Hoops Welcomes Wilberforce For Home Opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team, fresh off five consecutive games away from home, will welcome Wilberforce to the friendly confines of Alumni Hall at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 29. 

OPENING TIP-OFF

  • Ohio Dominican hosts Wilberforce  for  its  2021-22 home  opener.
  • Prior to Monday night's tip-off, ODU had played seven consecutive games away from Alumni Hall. 
  • The Panthers played just once during the Thanksgiving holiday week, dropping an afternoon matinee at Kentucky State, 72-70, back on Nov. 23. 
  • ODU comes home after starting the season 0-5 overall, 0-4 in true road games and 0-1 in a neutral site contest. 
  • The Panthers have scored 70 or more points in four-of-five games this season and are averaging 72.8 points per game.
  • Defensively, opponents are enjoying a cumulative .506 field goal percentage so far, resulting in 81.8 points per game. 
  •  Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) has paced the Panthers in scoring, 15.6 points per game, and is one of just two players in the G-MAC to average at least 15 points, five assists and five rebounds per outing this season. 
  • A pair of freshmen in Marcus Johnson (Columbus, Ohio) and Max Stepaniak (Ross, Ohio) are also averaging over 10 points per game, 10.8 and 10.4, respectively. 
  • Johnson has reached 10 or more points in three-of-four games played, including 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals last time out at KSU. 
  • Stepaniak has started the past two games and joins both West and Johnson with 10-plus points and four-plus rebounds per game this season.
  • After a slow start, Sean Marks (Delaware, Ohio), last season's leading scorer, has posted 10-plus points in four straight outings.
  • The Panthers are one of the top teams in the G-MAC in terms of three-point makes per game, 7.8. 
  • West leads ODU with 10 makes from deep, while Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) and Nate Webb (Lafayette, Ind.) have drained six triples each.
  • Webb was 4-for-6 from behind the arc against KSU.
  • Szul has 13 points in three-of-five games.

UP NEXT

  • Great Midwest Athletic Conference play is set to begin this weekend, with ODU hosting Ashland (Dec. 2) and Tiffin (Dec. 4).
