COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team will look to close out its five-game road stand to begin the 2021-22 season strong with a trip to Kentucky State.
The Panthers will travel to Frankfort, Ky. for a noon tip-off against the Thorobreds on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
OPENING TIP-OFF
- Ohio Dominican will enter the pre-holiday matchup with an 0-4 overall record.
- The Panthers are coming off a two-loss trip to West Virginia last week, falling on the road to Alderson Broaddus and Salem.
- Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) and Max Stepaniak (Ross, Ohio) provided the offensive spark for ODU during the Mountain State swing, combining to average 34.5 points per game.
- West leads ODU at 17.3 points per game, while also pitching in 5.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per outing, the later ranking top 20 nationally in Division II.
- Stepaniak has scored in double figures in three of his first four collegiate games, and last time out at Salem, fell one rebound shy of his first double-double, 16 points and nine rebounds.
- Marcus Johnson (Columbus, Ohio) and Zach Szul (Waterville, Ohio) are also averaging 11.0 points per game.
- Szul is coming off a pair of 13-point performances in West Virginia last week.
- Overall, ODU is averaging 73.5 points per game, seventh-best in the G-MAC.
- The Panthers have made double-digit shots from deep twice this season, and their 8.5 three-point makes per game are top five in the conference this winter.
- ODU is conceding over 84 points per game, but rank second in the G-MAC with 7.8 steals per contest.
- West (1.5), Johnson (1.3) and Arius Jones (Lansing, Mich.) (1.0), on average, are all swiping one or more steals per game.
