Men's Basketball Hosts Trevecca For Senior Day Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team hosts Trevecca Nazarene for Senior Day on Saturday with tip set for 12 p.m. Seniors will be recognized at approximately 11:40.

The Panthers are 12-15 overall and 8-9 in the conference after a loss at Malone and a 78-67 win over Alderson Broaddus last weekend.

Senior Michael Scott (Hebron, Ky.) had his third double-double of the season last weekend as Scott had 11 points and 10 assists in the win over AB. With those 10 assists to go along with eight last Thursday against Malone, the senior set the all-time assists record for a season with 157 so far. Scott has had at least eight assists in seven of the last 10 games and has had double digit assists in four games this season.

Senior Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) averaged 29.5 points to go along with 11.5 rebounds last week while also shooting 68.4% from the floor (26-for-38). Varence is the active career leader in double-double's with 49 which is six ahead of second overall. Varence is currently averaging a team-high 19.4 points per game and grabbing 9.6 rebounds which leads the conference. The senior forward is the second Panther ever to have over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds as he is third in Panther history with 1,715 points and is second all-time with 1,079 rebounds. Those 1,079 rebounds is second among active players for their careers as he is just six behind Ja'Sean Lewis of Cal State-Los Angeles.

Fellow senior Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) averaged 22 points per game last week to go along with 5.5 rebounds as the senior guard was 60% from the floor (15-of-25) and 50% from behind the arc (6-for-12) in the pair of games last week. Hickey is second on the Panthers scoring 16.4 points per game and is second in rebounds grabbing 4.6. Hickey is fourth all-time in Panther history, surpassing the 1,600 point mark last week as he currently sits at 1,627 points for his career. Hickey is second all-time in three pointers made for his career currently with 309, just 10 behind Brad Marzets during the 1991-95 seasons.

Fellow senior Michael Simon (Hilliard, Ohio) also recorded a career-high last week with nine rebounds in the loss at Malone with the senior forward also having eight points on the night.

The senior class of Scott, Varence, Hickey, Simon and Shawn Moore (Indianapolis, Ind.) have guided the Panthers through their four years to a 63-49 overall record which is the most wins for a class in the Division II era for the Panthers.

About Trevecca Nazarene

The Trojans come into the week red hot with three straight wins over Alderson Broaddus, Ohio Valley and Kentucky Wesleyan. Just before that, they took the G-MAC leader in Findlay to overtime.

Trevecca is 5-21 on the season and are 5-12 in the conference.

The Trojan offense averages 63.0 points per game on 42.5% shooting. Defensively, Trevecca allows 78.0 points per game while, in their last three wins, Trevecca's opponents have scored just 62.3 points per game.

The Trojans have three scorers averaging double-figures with Austin Wills leading the way with 11.3 points. Reed Smith is just behind averaging 11.0 points and Chris Rogers averages 10.5.

Earlier in the season, the Panthers defeated the Trojans 70-54 and the Panthers lead the all-time series 4-0.
