WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – West Liberty scored 25 of the first 30 points Saturday afternoon inside the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex, and never allowed Ohio Dominican men's basketball to claw back in, defeating the Panthers by a final count of 105-61.

The Panthers allowed triple digits for the first time in over five years (Dec. 12, 2014), falling to 4-9 on the season. The Hilltoppers have now hit the 100-point plateau for the eighth time in 12 games this season WLU has also now made a three-pointer 682 consecutive games, a stretch dating back to Nov. 14, 1997.

Freshman Alek West (Sylvania, Ohio) netted a three-pointer and a layup on ODU's first two possessions to give the Black & Gold a 5-3 advantage just over one minute into play. West Liberty then scored 22 unanswered points, over a four minute stretch, to capture a 25-5 lead.

The Hilltoppers continued to extend their advantage throughout the first half and pushed the lead to as many as 38 points at the intermission, 58-20. WLU then outscored ODU 47-41 in the second half to secure the 105-61 triumph.

West and senior Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) tied for the team-high with 11 points. Sophomore Tripp Hopkins (Columbus, Ohio), who entered with 13 career minutes, played 19 on Saturday and scored a career-high eight points to go along with an ODU-best two steals.

The Panthers were held to 37.5 percent shooting, while the Hilltoppers finished with a .481 clip. WLU also netted 15-of-33 shots from behind the arc and turned 21 ODU giveaways into 32 points.

Ohio Dominican will resume Great Midwest Athletic Conference action next time out with a trip to Cedarville. The Panthers and Yellow Jackets are scheduled for a 7:45 p.m. tip on Thursday, Jan. 2.
