ABOUT OHIO DOMINICAN
The Panthers (7-11, 4-8 GLIAC) have won four of their last six games, and are currently riding a four game winning streak inside Alumni Hall. However, after winning its first road contest of the season, ODU has dropped each of their last eight road outings.
With a three point field goal this past Saturday in the win over Malone, senior Chad Nelson (Columbus, OH) became the 22nd player in ODU men's basketball history, and second player this season to notch his 1,000th career point. Nelson set a new career high with 29 points versus Malone as well. The senior is averaging 11.7 points per game, and shooting close to 90 percent from the foul line.
Classmate Trent Weaver (Columbus, OH) also eclipsed 1,000 career points earlier this season. Weaver is leading the team at 14.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest. Both statistical categories rank in the top 20 in the GLIAC and his rebounding total is 32nd in the country. Last week saw a pair of sophomores in Adam Cytlak (Van Buren, OH) and Shemar Waugh (Columbus, OH) each produce notable stat lines. Cytlak ended the contest with Malone with eight points and a career best eight assists. Waugh added 13 points at Walsh, scoring in double figures for the first time since returning from injury. Waugh also averaged five assists over the two game stretch.
Sophomore Mike DeLeon (Powell, OH) has worked his way into the top 20 in the conference in rebounding at 5.9 per game. DeLeon also ranked among the GLIAC's best in offensive and defensive rebounds per contest.
