The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team returned to the court on Sunday afternoon in Vienna, West Virginia battling Midwest Regional foe Davis & Elkins. The men played well, bringing home an 8-1 win.
Doubles saw the men win all three courts, taking control early in each match. Gerardo Perez (Sr./Mexico City, Mexico) and Stian Van der Zee (Fr./Rotterdam, The Netherlands) earned the first point, winning 8-2 on court three. Courts one and two soon followed as Patrick Ohanian (Sr./Hudson, OH) and Arklon Del Pino (So./Lima, Peru) earned an 8-4 win on court two, while Justin Tjon (Jr./Willemstad, Curacao) and Gabor Csonka (Fr./Nyiregyhaza, Hungry) won on court one, 8-4.
Csonka got a quick start for the guys winning on court one, 6-1, 6-3 to bring the panthers within one point of clinching the match. Van der Zee sealed the win, earning a singles win on court four, 6-1, 6-3. Tjon followed on court three, winning 6-4, 6-4; while Del Pino battled on court two, winning a tough 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 match. Perez earned the guys final singles point on court six, 6-0, 6-0.
ODU returns to play on Friday, February 27th as they welcome Northwood to the New Albany Tennis Center for a GLIAC match. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start.
