The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team moved to 4-1 in GLIAC play on Saturday afternoon, defeating Walsh University, 7-2 at the New Albany Tennis Center.
Doubles play proved a difference maker for ODU today as they were able to take 3-of-3 courts. Arklon Del Pino (So./Lima, Peru) and Patrick Ohanian (Sr./Hudson, OH) earned the first point win a convincing win on court two, 8-1. Gabor Csonka (Fr./Nyiregyhaza, Hungry) and Justin Tjon (Jr./Willemstad, Curacao) continued their strong play, winning 8-3 on court one. On court three, Gerardo Perez (Sr./Mexico City, Mexico) and Stijn Van der Zee (Fr./Rotterdam, The Netherlands) won a back and forth match; a tight 9-8 (5) win to conclude doubles play.
In singles play, Csonka earned a quick win on court one, winning 6-0, 6-2. On court two, Del Pino bounced back from a tough first set winning 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 to clinch the match for ODU. Van der Zee and Perez finished the scoring for the men, winning on courts four and six in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4 and 7-5, 6-2.
