FULL GAME NOTES
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team will return home this weekend for two conference games when they welcome No. 19 Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
The Panthers (3-5, 0-2 GLIAC) dropped their opening two conference games on the road last weekend at Saginaw Valley State and Hillsdale. ODU has played just one home contest this season, which was a 104-69 win over Silver Lake.
With graduation being setup in Alumni Hall, Ohio Dominican will host Ferris State at 8 p.m. on Friday at Ohio Wesleyan University. ODU will then return to the friendly confines of Alumni Hall for a 3 p.m. tip on Sunday against Grand Valley State.
ABOUT OHIO DOMINICAN
Posting his fifth double-double of the season was senior Trent Weaver (Columbus, OH) as he scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds versus SVSU. Weaver ranks in a tie for fourth in NCAA Division II, and 17th throughout all three divisions in double-doubles this season.
For the year, Weaver leads ODU in scoring at 17.4 points per contest, and rebounding at 10.3 per game. Entering the weekend, Weaver is 35 points away from becoming just the 21st player in program history to join the 1,000 career points club.
Sophomore Ronnie Williams (Columbus, OH) led the Panthers in scoring against Hillsdale with 11 points. Williams is second on the squad in points per game at 12.6, and ranks fifth in the GLIAC in total 3-point makes this season with 15.
Also joining Williams inside the top 20 in the conference for 3-point field goals is sophomore Adam Cytlak (Van Buren, OH). Cytlak has made at least one 3-point field goal in seven of the eight games this season.
Sixth in the GLIAC and inside the top 70 in the NCAA in assists this year is sophomore Shemar Waugh (Columbus, OH) at 4.6 per contest. Waugh has four games this year with at least five helpers, and has assisted on at least three baskets in 16 of his last 17 games dating back to last year.
ABOUT FERRIS STATE
After rattling off seven straight wins to start the season, Ferris State (7-1, 1-1 GLIAC) dropped its last contest at home against Ashland last Saturday. The Bulldogs are 4-0 away from home this season, scoring at least 80 points in each contest.
FSU is averaging 80.0 points per game this year and is allowing just 64.9 points to their opponents. Jared Stolicker leads the way for the Bulldogs with 17.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest. Stolicker has been named GLIAC North Player of the Week twice already this season.
Josh Fleming and James Chappell are each averaging double figures in the scoring column as well. Fleming is shooting 40 percent from three point range and is leading the team with 3.1 assists per game.
ABOUT GRAND VALLEY STATE
Grand Valley State (5-2, 0-2 GLIAC) is coming off its first two losses of the season, falling to Ashland and Lake Erie to open GLIAC play last weekend. GVSU's game against Tiffin on Friday will be its first away from home this season.
Luke Ryskamp leads the Lakers in scoring at 16.0 points per game. Ryskamp is shooting close to 42 percent from behind the arc this season.
Ricardo Carbajal leads GVSU in rebounding at 5.1 per contest. Carbajal is shooting 55.4 percent from the field this year and is averaging 11.6 points per game. Aaron Hayes and Juwan Starks are also averaging over 10 points per game.
