Box Score ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team dropped the second game of their two road GLIAC game stretch, falling to Grand Valley State 73-52.
With the loss ODU falls to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the GLIAC. GVSU improved to 5-4 overall (2-2 GLIAC) after winning their second consecutive GLIAC contest.
Junior Chad Nelson (Columbus, OH) led the Panthers with 10 points, four assists, and two rebounds in 32 minutes of action. Freshman Ronnie Williams (Columbus, OH) came off the bench to add nine points for ODU. Junior guard Mark Minch (West Chester, OH) scored eight points while grabbing a team high nine rebounds.
The Panthers fell in an early hole, before a layup from Kwamel Wade (Westerville, OH) cut the deficit to 18-16 with just under nine minutes to play in the opening half. The Lakers however, finished the half on an 18-6 run to take a 36-22 lead into the intermission.
The Panthers cut the lead to 12 on numerous occasions in the second half, with the latest coming with 9:09 to play, after a Williams three pointer made the score 54-42. ODU was unable to close the gap to single digits, falling 73-52.
The Black and Gold made seven three pointers, the second most in any game this season. The Panthers held the shooting percentage advantage shooting 37.3 percent (19-51) to GVSU's 35.8 percent (19-53).
ODU will take a break from conference play as they travel to Bluefield State for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Saturday, December 20.
