ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Ohio Dominican men's basketball team opened up their 2012-13 season with a loss to Maryville University (Mo.) by the score of 69-56 at the annual GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament, hosted by Maryville University.

The teams traded points much of the first half, but a 10  point run at the end of the frame, sent ODU into the locker room trailing by eight (38-30).

The Panthers cut the lead to two early in the second, (44-42) after junior Brandon Carr (Westchester, Ill.) hit a three-point jump shot. However, the host Saints would rattle off three straight trifectas and never looked back as they went on to seal the victory.

Freshman Mark Minch (West Chester, Ohio) paced the Panthers with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting and six boards while freshman Jesse Ward (North Pole, Alaska) added six points, three assists and two rebounds.

The Panthers continued play late this afternoon against McKendree University.
