Men's Hoops Falls 71-48 to Wayne State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team couldn't shake off a sluggish start, as the Panthers fell 71-48 to Wayne State in GLIAC South Division play Saturday in Alumni Hall.

ODU (3-14, 0-11 GLIAC) missed 18 of its first 20 shots as Wayne State (10-7, 7-4 GLIAC) grabbed a 24-6 lead at the 6:47 mark. The lead would grow to as many as 26 in the first half at 38-12 before the Panthers scored the final four to make it 38-16 at the break. The Warriors' Bryan Coleman scored 19 of his 27 points in the frame as WSU shot 52 percent (13-of-25), compared to just 16 percent for the Panthers (4-of-25).

The Panthers would draw no closer than 17 points in the second half, despite hitting 13-of-24 shots (54.2 percent) in the frame. Wayne State shot 48.1 percent for the game and had a 39-24 edge in rebounding.

Senior forward Aaron Gibbs (Oberlin, Ohio) tallied 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting, while senior center Zak Kapron (Malvern, Ohio) scored nine points.

Ohio Dominican returns to action at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26 at Lake Superior State.
