Columbus, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team returned home on Wednesday afternoon, fresh off their final GLIAC match, to play former AMC foe, Cedarville University.The Panthers, although a little sluggish, claimed a tough 6-3 win over the visiting Yellow Jackets.
Doubles started a little tight for the host Panthers as they struggled to find their rhythm. The two doubles team of Carlos Perez (Jr./Miami, FL) and Greg Dillon (Sr./Fort Wayne, IN) quickly regained control of their match, rolling to a 8-2 decision. Conrad Klank (Sr./Dayton, OH) and Claude Badowski (Jr./Oundle, England) held off all CU threats to claim an 8-5 win.
Leading 2-1 after doubles, ODU won 4-of-6 singles matches to earn their eighth win of the season. Earning singles points for the Panthers was Badowski and Dillon on courts two and three, 6-3, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-2. Perez continues to play well, winning on court four, 6-1, 6-0. Bobby McMahan (Sr./Dunwoody, GA) took court six in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
ODU will return to action on Friday, April 15 as they head to Marion, Indiana to play in the Mark Richards Classic, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. The Panthers open up on Friday afternoon against the host Wildwats at 5 p.m.
