Springfield, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team showed flashes of brillance on Friday afternoon, but five competitive matches led to one point in the 8-1 loss to Ferris State University.
Doubles started well of the Panthers, jumping out to quick 3-0 leads on courts two and three. As the match on court two tightened up, court three saw the team of Claude Badowksi (Jr./Oundle, England) and Conrad Klank (Sr./Dayton, OH) jump all over the Bulldogs, earning an 8-3 win. Carlos Perez (Jr./Miami, FL) and Greg Dillon (Sr./Fort Wayne, IN) fought hard, but fell in a clase tie-breaker, 9-8 (5).
Down 2-1 after doubles, ODU looked to gain any momentum they could in singles play. The Bulldogs had other ideas, winning four courts in straight sets for the GLIAC win. Igor Carvalho (Fr./Belem, Brazil) turned in a solid performance on court one, falling 6-4, 4-6, 8-10. Dillon also dropped a tight match, falling 6-2, 2-6, 5-7 at #3 singles.
The Panthers will return to action today as they will host Grand Valley State University at the Springfield Racquet Club. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
