Pair of Records Fall at Wittenberg Steemer Showcase

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers indoor track and field team returned to the Steemer Center on the campus of Wittenberg University on Saturday (Jan. 27) for the Steemer Showcase. 

For the second straight week, a pair of Ohio Dominican program records were broken. Brooke Armbrust (Grove City, Ohio) reset her 60 meter record while Cole Miller (Chillicothe, Ohio) shattered the long jump record. 

1st Place Finishes

  • Brooke Armbrust - school record and NCAA provisional 7.55 final time in the 60 meters after she ran a 7.68 second prelim race. Ranks 3rd in the G-MAC this season 
  • Cole Miller broke the ODU school record for the long jump with a 7.37 meter jump, has the best mark in the G-MAC this season and has a NCAA D2 provisional mark

4th Place Finishes

  • Eugene Boahen - 6.92 second 60 meter final time after a 6.95 second prelim time

6th Place Finishes

  • Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) - 15:24.05 - 2nd fastest 5K time in the D2 era for Ohio Dominican

7th Place Finishes

  • Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) - 15:24.44 - 3rd fastest 5K time in Ohio Dominican D2 era

8th Place Finishes

  • Owen Wilhelm (Sunbury, Ohio) - season-best 1.92 meters in the high jump
Other Finishes
  • Ismael Obas (Columbus, Ohio) - 9th in the long jump with a best mark of 6.48 meters, 17th in the 200 meter dash with a PR of 22.87 seconds
  • Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) - 10th place in the 800 meters with a 1:59.51
  • Benjamin Seely (Chesterton, Indiana) - notched a 7.34 second 60 meter qualifying time, 11th fastest in the qualifying heats
  • G'nae Morrison (San Antonio, Texas) - 12th fastest in the 60 meter prelims (8.16 seconds), 20th place in the 200 with a 27.13 second time
  • Ismael Obas (Columbus, Ohio) - 7.10 second prelim time in the 60 meters (11th fastest) 
  • Tyler Wallace (Columbus, Ohio) - 7.15 second run in the 60 meter prelim round for 15th place, second fastest 200 meter time of his season (23.52 seconds)
  • Aly Diaby - 50.82 seconds for the 400 meter dash, finishing 16th place over
  • Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) - 17th in the mile with a season-best and PR time of 5:46.61
  • Gabrielle Reed (Pickerington, Ohio) - made her debut in the 800 meters, 20th place (2:37.61)
  • Mustafa Al-Saibawi (Columbus, Ohio)- reached a personal best in the shot put (12.38 meters) in 22nd place and tallied a 12.37 meter mark in the weight throw
  • Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) - finished 23rd in the mile with a new PR of 6:01.41
  • Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) - set two personal records in the mile and 800 meters... 4:43.12 time in the mile for 27th place; PR in the 800 with 2:15.92
  • Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) - hit a personal best in the mile at 6:15.59
  • Kaelin Pfeifer (Washington Court House, Ohio) - improved her PR in the 400 meters to 1:03.92 in 28th place, ran a 28.37 second PR in the 200 meters
  • Isaac Eugene - 52.33 seconds in the 400 meters (third fastest time of the season) for 30th place, 12th in 60 meter dash qualifying (7.35 seconds)
  • Shyla Pemberton - second fastest 400 meter time of the season (1:04.36), 30th place
  • Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) - another PR in the mile for 32th place (4:48.19)
  • Grace Pitt - personal best in the 400 meters (1:04.99)
  • Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) - clocked in at 6:22.19 in the mile, 34th place
  • Jana Griffith (Washington Court House, Ohio)- 1:05.16 time in the 400 meters, ran a 28.58 second time in the 200 meter dash
  • Henry Pierce - set a PR in the weight throw of 11.86 meters; threw 9.03 meters in the shot put
  • Blake Wilson - ran the second fastest 400 meter time of the season (53.77 seconds)
  • Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) - ran her second fastest time of the season in the mile (6:46.81)
  • Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) - just missed a personal best in the mile, 5:04.95
  • Nikane Ambos (Wapakoneta, Ohio) - 1:06.72 in the 400 meters, 28.99 seconds in the 200 meters

The Panthers will head back to Ashland for the Jud Logan Light Giver Open on Friday (Feb. 2) and Saturday (Feb. 3).
