COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team welcomes Malone and Walsh for their home opener and the beginning of conference play this weekend.
The Panthers sit at a 3-6 mark before hosting Malone on Friday, Sept. 9 and Walsh on Saturday. Coming off of the UIndy tournament, the Black and Gold rank second in the G-MAC for blocks per set with 1.94 from the help of freshman Grace Zinchuk (Schaumburg, Ill.) who has 26 on the season.
Junior Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) averages 3.33 kills per set, ranking second in the conference. Kirksey added 20 kills and 12 digs last Saturday. Teammate Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) continues to lead the Panthers with 129 total digs on the season.
Setters Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) and Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) combined for 96 total assists over the weekend at the UIndy Invitational. Kirker averages 5.03 assists per set with Avery averaging 3.92. Kirker also leads the team with 12 services aces.
About Malone
The Pioneers are 3-5 to start their 2022 campaign. They are coming off of a 3-0 win against Bloomsburg University. Gabi Smith led with 10 kills in the match. Macy McCauley added 17 digs and Molly Bullion registered 13 assists.
About Walsh
The Cavaliers open their conference schedule at Cedarville on Friday, Sept. 9 with a record of 3-1. In their 3-0 win against Slippery Rock, Walsh had three players collect double figure kills and double figure digs. Setter Olivia Kearns tallied 37 assists in the match.
First serve is set for 6 PM on Friday against Malone and 1 PM on Saturday against Walsh.
