COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team has three conference games on tap this week as they play host to Ashland, then head south to battle Trevecca Nazarene and Ky. Wesleyan.
First serve from Alumni Hall is scheduled for 7 PM on Tuesday. On Friday, Sept. 16, first serve is set for 6 PM (CT) from Nashville, Tenn. Saturday, the Panthers head to Owensboro Sports Center for a 1 PM (CT) match.
ODU are 1-1 in conference play and 4-7 overall after welcoming Malone and Walsh in their home opening weekend. They fell to the Pioneers (3-0), but came out the next day and topped the Cavaliers (3-1).
Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio, Lauren Lucas (Grove City, Ohio) and Ashley Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) all tallied double figure kills against Walsh. Maxwell led the way with 16 and added six blocks. Lucas had 11 and Aselage registered 12.
Freshman Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) and Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) continue to put up numbers from the setter position. They combined for 65 assists through the last two matches.
Defensive Specialist Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) averages 3.97 digs per set with 155 on the season so far. Junior Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) leads the team with 3.14 kills per set.
About Ashland
In week two, Ashland received votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Eagles are 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference. They are coming off of 3-0 sweeps against both TNU and KWC from last weekend.
About TNU
The Trojans sit with an overall mark of 8-4 and 1-1 in the G-MAC. Last Friday, TNU fell the Ashland but defeated Tiffin (3-1) on Saturday.
About KWC
The Purple Panthers are 2-8 with a record of 0-2 in the conference. KWC dropped matches at Tiffin and Ashland a weekend ago. They will take on Cedarville before hosting the Black and Gold.
