COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team continues its fall season on the road with five games this week first traveling to Crestview, Ky. on Tuesday then to the UIndy Invitational this weekend in Indianapolis.
The Panthers will play on Tuesday, Aug. 30, against Thomas More. First serve is scheduled for 6 PM at the Connor Convocation Center. The Black and Gold then travel to Indianapolis to play four games at the UIndy Invitational. They open against the host UIndy of Friday, Sept. 2 at 12 PM and play again at 5:30 PM against Grand Valley State. ODU plays again on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 1 PM against Bentley and at 7 PM against UMSL.
The Black and Gold are coming off a four game tournament last weekend where they split on both days. They fell to Edinboro (3-0) and Maryville (Mo.) (3-1) at the beginning of each day, but came back to sweep West Alabama (3-0) and Kentucky State (3-0) to conclude each day.
Coming off the Kentucky State Invitational, junior Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) led the team with 44 kills and added nine blocks. Kirksey also tallied 19 digs and averaged 3.38 kills per set.
Defensive specialists Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) and Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) combined for 77 digs over the weekend. Shoup averaged 3.31 digs per set with Keipert averaging 2.62.
Freshman Grace Zinchuk (Schaumburg, Ill.) led the Panthers in service aces with six and in blocks with 16. Zinchuk also collected 15 kills.
With 61 assists on the weekend, freshman Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) led the team. Fellow setter Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) was right behind her with 41 assists. The pair also combined for 27 digs.

The Black and Gold return home for the first time this fall where they open conference play on Friday Sept. 9, at 6 PM against Malone and continue with Walsh at 1 PM on Saturday.
