COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team hits the road and heads south for a two-game road trip facing off against Kentucky Wesleyan University on Thursday evening and battling Trevecca Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon.
The Black and Gold are unbeaten away from home this season, earning a record of 1-0-1. ODU's lone road victory came on opening day against Lake Erie College on March 14. The Panthers come into the weekend riding a wave of momentum following a 1-0 victory over the University of Findlay on Saturday evening.
Sophomore Callan Myers (Hillsboro, Ohio) tallied the game's only goal in the 17th minute. She handled a pass from fellow playmaker Samantha Buck (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and beat a diving goalkeeper to her left to tally her first game-winning goal of the season.
Freshman Jadelyn McNerney (Springboro, Ohio) made a career-high eight saves for her third consecutive clean sheet and capturing Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors along the way.
SCOUTING KENTUCKY WESLEYAN
The Purple Panthers come into Thursday's contest looking to get back into the win column after grabbing wins on the road at Ursuline College and earning a draw at Malone University. KWC also are searching for their first victory against the Black and Gold since both teams joined the G-MAC in 2017. ODU has outscored Kentucky Wesleyan by the margin of 12-2 in their five previous meetings.
The Panthers will rely on forward Madisyn Hunt who led the team in scoring just a season ago. The senior paced her squad offensively tallying 22 goals and grabbing seven assists.
Goalkeeper Reegan Garrity is tasked with denying the Black and Gold scoring opportunities. The KWC backstop has allowed just four goals in over 300 minutes of play, compiling a .886 save percentage.
SCOUTING TREVECCA NAZARENE
The Trojans come into Saturday's contest unbeaten in four of their last five, securing wins against Kentucky Wesleyan, Tiffin University, and Ursuline College. TNU looks to spoil the hot Panther start following an early exit from the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference postseason tournament in which the Black and Gold defeated the Trojans in penalty kicks.
Trevecca is led offensively by Abbigail Legg who leads the team with three goals and six points this season. Goalkeeper Delayna Holman returns in 2021 and has allowed eight goals in her six starts this season with a save percentage of .795.
