ASHLAND, Ohio — Freshman Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) won the long jump with a distance of 6.40 meters to help lead the Ohio Dominican track and field teams at the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday.

Classmate Isaiah Smith placed third in the event as well with a leap of 6.23 meters.

Ohio Dominican sophomore Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio) claimed his second school record of the spring with a run of 4:05.00 in the men's 1500 to lead ODU track and field at the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday. Pipher bested the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase school mark last weekend at Otterbein by more than 20 seconds and followed it up with a seventh place finish out of 35 competitors with a school record mark in the 1500. 

The men's 4x100 meter relay team of freshman Anthony Woods (Macedonia, Ohio), junior Avery Sumpter (Lima, Ohio), senior Spencer Lester (Akron, Ohio), senior Taylor Williams (Houston, Texas) and Bass finished fourth with a time of 42.31.

Junior Chad Ellis (Berea, Ohio) set a PR in the men's 800, placing 12th with a time of 1:59.66.

In the field for the men, sophomore Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) placed 14th out of 31 throwers in the shot put with a distance of 13.31 meters.

Freshman Emma Barth (Dayton, Ohio) recorded a personal best in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 43.00 meters to place 13th out of 29.  

Finishing in the top half of the field in the women's 100 meter dash were freshmen Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio) and Bryanna Barber (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), who finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Stevens finished in 13.35, while Barber crossed the finish line in 13.37. 

Ohio Dominican will look ahead to the GLIAC Championships, May 3-5 at Grand Valley State University.
