Baseball Drops 9-4 Decision To Pace

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Ohio Dominican's baseball team fell to Pace by a final score of 9-4 on Wednesday afternoon at the Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Florida.

The Panthers (8-3, 0-0 GLIAC) are 4-2 thus far on their spring break trip to Florida, scoring a 15-9 victory over the Setters on Sunday.  

Junior Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio), sophomore Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio), junior Lee Sponseller (Mason, Ohio) and senior Kyle Burson (Brunswick, Ohio) recorded hits in the contest for ODU.

Sophomore Derek Thobe (Coldwater, Ohio) started on the mound for the Panthers, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing three earned runs.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Kaucher singled up the middle and advanced to second base on an error, scoring sophomore Brad Hull (Gahanna, Ohio) and Childers by way of a throwing error by the center fielder to give ODU a 2-1 lead.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the third, Childers successfully stole home, giving Ohio Dominican a 3-2 lead through three.

But Pace would hold the Panthers to just one run for the remainder of the contest and score in four of the next six innings, earning the win, 9-4.

Ohio Dominican will face Seton Hill on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The Panthers defeated the Griffins by a 10-8 margin on Tuesday.
