QUINCY, Ill. — In its first match of the 2016 season, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team tied Quincy 1-1 (2OT) on Thursday night.

The Panthers (0-0-1, 0-0-0 GLIAC) finished with nine shots on goal and were able to find the back of the net at the 46:51 mark of the game on a goal from approximately 16 feet out at the top of the box by sophomore Becca Gordon (Johnstown, Ohio), with the assist from senior Amanda Fodor (Hilliard, Ohio).

Senior Emily Riviello (Huber Heights, Ohio) led the Panthers in total shots with three and also finished with one shot on goal. Gordon finished with two shots on goal and senior Kelly Johnson (Berea, Ohio) also finished with two shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) started the game for Ohio Dominican and recorded four saves and allowed one goal in 45 minutes of action. Junior Kelsey Harris (Mason, Ohio) finished the remaining 65 minutes for the Panthers, also recording four saves on the evening with no goals allowed.

Quincy took an early lead at the 4:05 mark of the first half on a header to take a 1-0 lead and held the advantage at halftime.

But the Panthers struck quickly in the second half to tie the game, after the goal by Gordon on the assist from Fodor at the 46:51 mark tied the game 1-1, which would hold true through two overtime periods to the final whistle.

Ohio Dominican will continue its roadtrip with a match at Truman on Saturday, September 3, with kickoff slated for 12 p.m. CDT/1 p.m. EDT.
