Box Score HOUGHTON, Mich. — Ohio Dominican women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) recorded a save on a penalty kick in the 109th minute against Michigan Tech, preserving a 0-0 (2OT) tie on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers (3-3-4, 2-0-2 GLIAC) are currently one of three unbeaten teams in GLIAC play and finish their Upper Peninsula road trip with a 2-0 victory at Northern Michigan on Friday and a 0-0 tie at Michigan Tech on Sunday.
Wierzbicki played 90:13 of the 110 minutes of the match, recording three saves, including the penalty kick save with just over one minute remaining in the match. Junior Kelsey Harris (Mason, Ohio) played 19:47 of the second half at goalkeeper for ODU, recording two saves.
Senior Kethryn Mattingly (Beavercreek, Ohio) led the Panther offense with two shots on goal, while sophomore Lindsey Rentzsch (Dublin, Ohio) and senior Amanda Fodor (Hilliard, Ohio) also finished with one shot on goal apiece.
ODU and Michigan Tech (6-2-1, 2-1-1 GLIAC) went into halftime tied 0-0, with the Huskies outshooting the Panthers 5-1 in the first half. Ohio Dominican evened the gap in the second half and first overtime period, taking seven shots compared to eight for Michigan Tech during the span.
But the play of the game came at the 108:37 mark in the second overtime period, when Wierzbicki saved a penalty kick shot by MTU's Jessica Splittgerber, as the match ended tied 0-0.
ODU will host Tiffin (1-9, 0-4 GLIAC) on Friday night at 7 p.m. before traveling to Ashland (5-0-3, 2-0-1) on Sunday.
