Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team would fall to Michigan Tech on Sunday afternoon at Panther Stadium by a final score of 3-1.
With the loss, The Panthers (4-4-0, 3-0-1 GLIAC), suffered their first conference loss of the season, as their streak of consecutive regular season conference victories ends at 13. The Huskies (4-3-0, 1-2-0 GLIAC) are now the only GLIAC team to defeat ODU in each of the last two regular seasons.
The Panthers would fall behind early as the Huskies would score a goal 25 seconds into the match, to take a 1-0 advantage.
Responding quickly, ODU would answer with its own goal in the 11th minute as senior Lauren Pratt (West Chester, OH) would take a corner kick which was headed, then knocked in by Huskie defenders.
The match would stay tight throughout the remainder of the half as the score was 1-1 heading into the intermission.
In the second half, MTU scored two goals in a span of five minutes, taking a 3-1 lead with just over 15 minutes remaining in the game. The Panthers would muster just one shot down the stretch as they could not cut into the Huskie lead.
ODU would post seven shots in each half, as they held a 14-10 advantage in shot attempts. The Panthers would also hold a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal for the match.
Four players would pace ODU with two shots each, including Pratt, senior Jessica Gross (Dayton, OH), and sophomores Ashley Blake (Hilliard, OH) and Allison Pavlik (Cortland, OH).
There would be 17 total corner kicks taken, as the Panthers would record 10 in the match.
The Black and Gold will look to bounce back as they will be on the road next weekend. ODU will trek to Tiffin at 1:30 p.m. next Friday, October 2.
