Baseball Travels to Tiffin for GLIAC Doubleheader

COLUMBUS, Ohio — At the mid-point of the 2015 conference schedule and coming off a series split at Hillsdale, Ohio Dominican's baseball team heads to Tiffin for a doubleheader on Wednesday.

ODU went 2-2 against Hillsdale this past weekend and put up a lot of runs in the process.

The Panthers were led offensively by redshirt freshman Lee Sponseller (Mason, Ohio), who hit .667 while driving in six runs for the Panthers. Sponseller was named as the GLIAC's South Division Player of the Week for the second time this season. He is currently on a six game hitting streak, and his .423 batting average is best in the conference.

Senior Ronn Bidwell (Syracuse, N.Y.) batted .500 for the series and also drove in three runs. Bidwell has reached base successfully in the past three games.

Freshman Jacob Tisevich (North Canton, Ohio) led off the fourth game of the series with a home run, his first of the season. Tisevich has successfully reached base in nine consecutive games.

Sophomore Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio) has ten multiple hit games on the season to go along with three multiple RBI games. Evans is currently on a four game hitting streak and had seven hits over the weekend.

Senior Kyle Tisdale (Uniontown, Ohio) also had a strong week with six hits and three walks in the series against Hillsdale.

Junior Ryan Colegate (Centerville, Ohio) headlined the Panthers pitching staff with a 1.17 ERA in 7.2 innings helping the Panthers secure a 7-3 win. Colegate is 5-1 on the season with an ERA of 2.16, which is best in the GLIAC.

Senior Vince Bartolone (Broadview Heights, Ohio) continued his strong season, making three scoreless appearances and collecting his third save of the season.

As a team, the Panthers are batting.284 on the season, which ranks seventh in the conference. Their team ERA is 4.82, which also is good enough for seventh.

The Tiffin Dragons, at 13-20 overall and 7-9 in the GLIAC, are coming off a series split at Wayne State this past weekend.

Tiffin comes into the series with a team batting average of .290. The Dragons are led by junior Alex Hartley who is batting .360 with 20 RBI on the season.

The Dragons have a team ERA of 5.45. They are led by junior RHP Logan Sendelbach who has a 2.97 ERA on the season.

First pitch on Wednesday is set for 2 p.m., and the second game is set for 4:30 p.m. at Tiffin.
