ASHLAND, Ohio –The Ohio Dominican track and field teams took one step closer to the GLIAC Outdoor Championships as the Panthers competed at the Ashland Invitational over the weekend.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 49.70. The team was made up of sophomores Maryann Dike (Toronto, Ontario), Alex Hall (Westerville, Ohio) and freshman Kayla Statema (Warren, Ohio) and Amber Schreck (Crestline, Ohio). This team also placed fourth in the 4x400 with a time of 4:03.34.
Dike was third in the 100 with a time of 12.71 and Hawkins was sixth on the men's side with a time of 11.10. Dike also finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 25.76 and Hawkins placing seventh for the men with a time of 22.25.
Statema also cracked the top-10 in the 400, placing ninth with a time of 1:01.84.
The men's 4x100 relay team finished third with a team of sophomore Michael Hawkins (Columbus, Ohio), junior Aaron Johnson (Troy, Ohio), junior Darrell Harley (Columbus, Ohio), and junior Kenny Brown (Westerville, Ohio) with a time of 42.31.
Johnson finished second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.54.
The 4x400 team of Brown, junior Dominick Smith (Dayton, Ohio), sophomore Matt Rosebrock (Napoleon, Ohio) and freshman Jerome Thomas (West Palm Beach, Fla.) finished fourth with a time of 3:28.07.
In the women's 1500 meter run, sophomore Nicole Brown (Columbus, Ohio) finished in 12th with a time of 5:06.54 and sophomore Austin Kilgore (Pickerington, Ohio) was 10th on the men's side with a time of 4:10.74.
Freshman Shakita Kabicek (Brook Park, Ohio) ran a 2:22.66 in the 800 to place sixth and Rosebrock ran a 56.85 for the men to finish eighth.
Junior Tara Walker (Lewis Center, Ohio) claimed a first place finish in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:49.72 and senior Mallory Kitts (Springfield, Ohio) was fourth with a time of 19:08.77. For the men, freshman Andrew Beier (Bellevue, Ohio) came in eighth with a time of 16:09.81.
Sophomore Vogue Hall (Zanesville, Ohio) was third in the javelin with a mark and sophomore Connor Sensabaugh (Pataskala, Ohio) was eighth with a throw of 41.91 meters.
Ohio Dominican will compete at the GLIAC outdoor championship on May 1-2.
