NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican
track and field teams kicked off the outdoor season with
strong showings at the Amy Adams Invitational, hosted by
Muskingum University. The men's team finished in a tie for first
out of 13 teams, while the women finished second out of 11
teams.
In the 100 meter dash, sophomore Taylor
Williams (Houston, Texas) and junior Aaron
Johnson (Troy, Ohio) took first and fifth respectively as
Williams ran an 11.05 while Johnson clocked in with an 11.50.
Johnson took first in the 110 meter hurdles, crossing the finish
line with a time of 15:54.
The 4x100 relay team of junior Darrell Harley (Columbus,
Ohio), sophomore Michael Hawkins (Columbus,
Ohio), junior Xavier Leonard (Atlanta,
Ga.), and Williams placed first with a time of 43.01.
The 4x800 team of junior Dominick Smith (Dayton,
Ohio), junior Connor Callahan (Columbus,
Ohio), junior Michael Barber (New Franklin,
Ohio), and sophomore Austin Kilgore (Pickerington,
Ohio) took first with a time of 8:11.55.
In the field events, junior Tyler Fifer (Westerville,
Ohio) scored 10 points for the Panthers after coming in
first in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters. He placed first
in the triple jump with a score of 14.15 meters, and second in the
long jump after leaping 6.26 meters, while teammate freshman
Jerome Thomas (West Palm Springs, Fla.) came in
first in the same event with a mark of 6.34 meters.
Junior Jaylen Guevara (Sandusky, Ohio) came in
first in the discus, hurling an impressive 43.25 meters. Teammate
senior Nick Green (Wapakoneta, Ohio) came in third
in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.73.
On the women's side, sophomore Maryann Dike
(Toronto, Ontario) came in second in the 100 meter dash
with a time of 12.90 and sophomore Alex Hall
(Westerville, Ohio) was fourth in the 200 after crossing
the finish line with a time of 27.09.
Junior Erin Miller
(London, Ohio) ran a 19:36.91 in the 5000 meter race for a
third place finish and sophomore Nicole Brown
(Columbus, Ohio) wasn't too far behind fourth with a time
of 19:43.14.
Dike, Hall, and freshmen Tierney
Crawley (Macedonia,
Ohio) and Amber Schreck
(Crestline, Ohio) took first in the 4x100 with a time of
50.95 and the team of Dike, Hall, Schreck, and freshman Kayla
Statema (Warren, Ohio) took second in the 4x400 with a
time of 4:11.85.
Junior Taylor Williams (Akron, Ohio) threw
11.52 meters to a third place finish in the shot put, and finished
first in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.86 meters.
Ohio Dominican will next run at the Marv Frye Invitational next
Friday, Apr. 4.
