DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men
and women's track teams had a strong showing at the Ohio Wesleyan
Invitational on Friday afternoon.
On the men's side, five Panthers finished in the top-five in the
60 meter dash. Junior Aaron Johnson (Troy, Ohio)
led the pack, finishing second with a time of 7.26. Sophomore
Billy Eakins (Pickerington, Ohio) placed third
with a time of 7.54, freshman Jerome Thomas (West Palm
Beach, Fla.) finished fourth with a time of 7.59 and
junior Connor Sensabaugh (Pataskala, Ohio) was
fifth with a time of 7.64. Thomas finished first in the long jump
with a mark of 6.01 meters.
Johnson placed first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.54
while Sensabaugh also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a
time of 24.83.
Junior Dominick Smith (Dayton, Ohio) came in
second in the 400 meter dash after crossing the finish line with a
time of 53.63.
In the 800 meter run, sophomore Austin Kilgore
(Pickerington, Ohio) paced ODU with a first place finish
with a time of 2:03.00. Junior Connor Callahan (Columbus,
Ohio) came in third with a time of 2:04.40. Freshman
Patrick Ferguson (Austintown, Ohio),
Andrew Beier (Bellevue, Ohio) and Zach
Fradette (Westerville, Ohio) rounded out the top-10.
Junior Jason Williams (Powell, Ohio) placed
first in the mile with a time of 4:29.41 while Kilgore finished
second with a time of 4:32.07. Beier also placed, finishing fourth
with a time of 4:46.86. Ferguson, freshman Tyler Higgins
(Middleburg Heights, Ohio) also finished in the
top-10.
The team of Eakins, Thomas, sophomore Michael Hawkins
(Columbus, Ohio), and sophomore Taylor
Williams (Houston, Texas) finished first in 4x200
meter relay after running a 1:36.50.
Both 4x400 teams placed, with the team of Callahan, Ferguson,
Fradette, and Higgins taking first with a time of 3:55.78. The team
of Jason Williams, sophomore Brendan Walburn (Hebron,
Ohio), Kilgore and senior Chris Liebold (Green
Springs, Ohio) took second with a time of 4:01.08.
In the field events, junior Tyler Fifer (Westerville,
Ohio) took second in the high jump with a mark of 1.87
meters and first in the triple jump with a mark of 13.68
meters.
In the shot put, junior Nick Green (Wapakoneta,
Ohio) threw 14.24 meters for a first place finish while
sophomore Dereck Fleury (Marysville, Ohio) took
first in the weight throw with a mark of 14.32 meters.
On the women's side, freshmen Tierney
Crawley (Macedonia, Ohio) and Erin Hamm (Lucas,
Ohio) finished fourth and seventh respectively.
Crawley finished with a time of 8.83 while Hamm crossed the finish
line with a time of 9.12. Crawley also placed fourth in the 200
meter dash with a time of 28.79.
Junior Katlyn Rini
(Pickerington Ohio) finished second in the 200 meter dash
with a time of 28.79 and fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time
of 1:07.03. Sophomore Nicole Brown
(Columbus, Ohio) took first with a time of 1:05.38. Brown
placed second in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:30.40.
Junior Tara Walker
(Lewis Center, Ohio) finished fourth in the 800, after
running a 2:32.50 while freshman Shakita
Kabicek (Brook Park, Ohio) was close behind with a
time of 2:32.50. Sophomore Emma Russell
(Columbus, Ohio) placed seventh with a time of
2:59.40.
In the mile, Walker took third with a time of 5:24.96 while
Kabicek placed fourth with a time of 5:40.77. Junior Erin Miller
(London, Ohio) finished fifth after running a 5:53.16.
Senior Mallory Kitts
(Springfield, Ohio) took the top spot in the 3000 meter
run with a time of 11:15.19.
The 4x200 relay team of freshman Amber Schreck
(Crestline, Ohio), freshman Kayla Statema
(Warren, Ohio), sophomore Maryann Dike
(Canada), and sophomore Alex Hall
(Westerville, Ohio) placed first with a time of 1:50.26.
The foursome also took home a first place finish in the 4x400 relay
with a time of 4:20.59.
In the field events, Schreck placed third in the pole vault with
a mark of 2.90 meters while Hamm finished fourth with a height of
2.44 meters.
Junior Taylor Williams (Akron, Ohio) finished
first in the shot put, throwing 11.98 meters and first in the
weight throw with a mark of 15.95 meters.
Ohio Dominican will next compete at the Ohio State Tune-up on
Feb. 21.
