Panthers Prep for GLIAC Indoor Track Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican indoor track and field teams will join the rest of their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members this Saturday and Sunday to compete at the league's Indoor Championships, hosted by Hillsdale College.

In all, the championship meet will feature 15 of the 16 members of the conference, where everyone will be gunning for the title.

Single-day passes are $7 for an adult, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students. A two-day pass can be purchased for $10.

The men have had two athletes hit provisional marks this year in juniors Aaron Johnson (Troy, Ohio) and Tyler Fifer (Westerville, Ohio). Johnson hit his mark in the 60 meter hurdles at the Ohio State Tune-Up where he ran an 8.28. Fifer earned his in the triple jump with a leap of 14.33 meters at the same meet.

Sophomore Maryann Dike (Toronto, Ontario) is seeded 12th in the 60 meter dash and is expected to place in the finals.

The GLIAC meet begins at 10 a.m. in the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center on Saturday with the start of the women's 60 meter hurdles, followed by the men's 60 meters at 10:25 a.m. The running events will begin at 3:50 p.m. with the women's 5000 meters. Field events will start at 4 p.m. with the women's weight throw. The final running event will take place at 7:50 p.m. with the men's distance medley relay.

The second and final day opens with the first running event beginning at 1:15 p.m. with the women's mile. For a complete schedule of events, click here. Live results will be available throughout the meet and posted here.

Scoring in the meet will be on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for eight places for individuals and relay events.
