FINDLAY, Ohio – Snow fall and blistering winds could not keep the Ohio Dominican track teams from breaking school records and setting multiple personal best at the two-day Findlay Indoor Invitational.
For the men, sophomore Billy Eakins (Pickerington, Ohio) took seventh in the 400 meter after crossing the finish line with a time of 53.19. Fellow sophomore Matt Rosebrock (Napoleon, Ohio) finished ninth with a time of 53.69.
In the 800 meter run, junior Ashton Hall (Huber Heights, Ohio) placed fifth with a time of 2:00.06, while freshman Andrew Beier (Bellevue, Ohio) had a season best time of 9:36.62 in the 3000 meter run, placing 10th.
Junior Michael Barber (New Franklin, Ohio) placed ninth in the 5000 meter run after finishing the race with a time of 16:21.31. Teammate freshman Patrick Ferguson (Austintown, Ohio) crossed the finish line with a time of 16:23.83 to finish 11th.
Junior Aaron Johnson (Troy, Ohio) set a season best time in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.36 and a third place finish.
The 4x400 relay team of Hall, sophomore Taylor Williams (Houston, Texas), junior Kenny Brown (Westerville, Ohio), and junior Dominick Smith (Dayton, Ohio) placed fourth with a time of 3:30.67
The team of Hall, Smith, junior Jason Williams (Powell, Ohio), and sophomore Austin Kilgore (Pickerington, Ohio) set a new school record in the distance medley relay, which was set in 2013 at 10:40.75, finished third with a time of 10:38.27.
In the field events, junior Tyler Fifer (Westerville, Ohio) finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.97 meters, a season best. Fifer also placed third in the triple jump, leaping 13.74 meters. Sophomore Dereck Fleury (Marysville, Ohio) cracked the top-10 in the shot put, placing 10th with a throw of 14.35 meters.
Sophomore Maryann Dike set a new school record in the 60 meter dash, placing second with a time of 7.90. She also placed seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.55, another school record.
Freshman Kayla Statema (Warren, Ohio) finished third in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:48.68 while sophomore Emma Russell (Columbus, Ohio) placed eighth with a time of 2:04.33.
Sophomore Nicole Brown (Columbus, Ohio) and Shakita Kabicek (Brook Park, Ohio) both placed in the top-10 in the 800 meter run. Brown placed sixth with a time of 2:27.34, a season best, while Kabicek placed ninth with a time of 2:31.84.
Junior Erin Miller (London, Ohio) ran a 3:42.89 in the 1000 meter run to finish ninth and placed eighth in the mile with a time of 5:54.87. Fellow junior Rachel Collins (Dayton, Ohio) finished 10th with a time of 6:01.68.
In the 3000 meter run, junior Tara Walker (Lewis Center, Ohio) ran a 10:52.52 to finish fourth while senior Mallory Kitts (Springfield, Ohio) finished not too far behind in fifth with a time of 11:14.26.
Sophomore Molly Priest (Wadsworth, Ohio) ran a personal best in the 5000 meter run, finishing the race in sixth place with a time of 19:19.76.
Dike, Kabicek, freshman Amber Schreck (Crestline, Ohio) and sophomore Alex Hall (Westerville, Ohio) dropped 10 seconds off the previous school record in the 4x400 meter relay, finishing with a time of 4:13.50 for a fifth place finish. Hall also placed in the long jump, finishing ninth with a mark of 4.59 meters.
Brown, Kabicek, Walker, and Schreck set a new school record in the distance medley relay, crushing the previous record of 13:31.44, set in 2012 by 22 seconds for a second place finish.
Ohio Dominican travels to Geneva, Ohio to compete in the DII Challenge.
