POWELL, Ohio – With a field consisting of 12 men's teams and 11 women's, the Ohio Dominican men and women's cross country teams opened the 2013 season at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational Saturday afternoon. Both squads placed eighth with the men's team totaling 194 points while the women finished with 222 points.

Junior Michael Barber (New Franklin, Ohio) picked up where he left off in the 2012 season, crossing the finish line with a total time of 26:59.7, five seconds shy of a being in the top 20.

Sophomore Austin Kilgore (Pickerington, Ohio) and freshman Andrew Beier (Bellvue, Ohio) also highlighted the Panthers, placing 50th and 52nd respectively. Kilgore ran a 28:14.7while Beier punched a time of 28:20.9 in his college debut.

Veteran sophomores Brendan Walburn (Hebron, Ohio) and Ethan Miller (Monclova, Ohio) seemed to set the pace for one another as Walburn cross the finish line with a time of 28:28.2 and Miller on his heels with a time of 28:29.6.

Freshmen Patrick Ferguson (Austintown, Ohio), Tyler Higgins (Middleburg Heights, Ohio), Seth Dorsey (Shelby, Ohio), and junior Jason Williams (Powell, Ohio) all finished under the 30 minute mark.

On the women's side, freshman Shakita Kabicek (Brook Park, Ohio) cracked the top 50 in her first season, with a 37th place finish with a time of 20:41.3.

Junior Tara Walker (Lewis Center, Ohio) crossed the finish line with a time of 21:21.6 while senior Mallory Kitts (Springfield, Ohio) came in at 21:22.0.

Junior Rachel Collins (Dayton, Ohio) recorded a time of 21:31.9 while junior Erin Miller (London, Ohio) finished with a time of 21:37.2.

The teams return to action on Saturday, September 14 as the Panthers travel to Southern Ohio for the Ohio University Invitational.
