The Black & Gold posted a 1-1 record last week as they won 3-0 over visiting Southern Indiana and dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 OT loss to No. 21 ranked Bellarmineat Panther Field. In the 3-0 win against the Screaming Eagles, the Panthers grabbed the early momentum shift as sophomore Emily Spencer (Gibsonia, Pa.) scored her first career goal in a Panther uniform at the 1:55 mark. Quickly following suit, junior Megan Augusta (Lyndhurst, Ohio) added her first goal of the 2012 season from Spencer, to put the Panthers ahead 2-0.
Controlling the ball and tempo, the Panthers would go into halftime leading 2-0 and outshooting the Screaming Eagles 8-3.
At the 88:09 mark, Augusta would strike again with her second goal of the game and seal the 3-0 win for the Black and Gold.
Sophomore goalie Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich.) posted her first shutout of the season while grabbing six saves.
On Sunday, ODU suffered a 1-0 overtime loss to the visiting Knights. The Knights controlled the ball and tempo throughout the match as they outshot the Panthers 20-6. ODU's best scoring chance came with just four minutes remaining as senior Jennifer Holton (Johnstown, Ohio) tried to connect off of a free ball but just missed to the left side of the goal.
At the 98:33 mark in the first overtime session, Bellarmine's Allison Menchak connected with the back of the net to seal the win for the Knights.
Clark, who had a standout game, tallied 11 saves for the Black and Gold while the Knights goalie Amy Kunowski collected four.
About the Blue Knights:
The Blue Knights are coming to Panther Field after going 0-2 against Southern Indiana and Davis & Elkins. In the 3-1 loss to the Screaming Eagles, with less than a minute to play, Urbana got on the board on an Abby Pearson penalty kick. Pearson's two shots were the most by a Blue Knight on the afternoon, and keeper Meghan Taucher finished with 10 saves in the loss.
