COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Friday evening, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team extended their win streak to four and captured their fifth shutout of the season after defeating the Wildcats of Northern Michigan by the score of 2-0. This Sunday, ODU looks to extend that streak to five as they take on the Huskies of Michigan Tech.
About the Panthers:
At Northern Michigan, in the 14th minute, senior Jennifer Holton (Johnstown, Ohio) connected to the right side of the net for the first goal of the game and her fifth on the season.
Scoring her seventh goal of the season, freshman Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) knocked in the second goal of the game in the 86th minute from two feet outside the net for a Panther 2-0 lead. Pratt has scored a goal in the last four games she has played.
The Wildcats outshot the Panthers 12-6, including six shots on goal. ODU narrowly edged Northern Michigan in corner kicks, kicking four to their three.
Sophomore goalie Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich.) stopped six goals and improved to a 7-4-2 record and notched her fifth shutout of the season.
About the Huskies:
Last week, the Huskies Danna Kasom scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Michigan Tech women's soccer team to a 2-0 GLIAC win over Ashland at Sherman Field Friday (Oct. 12). The win was the ninth in a row for the Huskies who improve to 10-2-0 overall and 8-0-0 in league play.
MacKenzie Jordan sent a long pass to Danna Kasom who flicked a header to Katie Boardman. Boardman scored her sixth goal of the season in the 28th minute.
Kasom scored the team's second goal of the match with a shot following a rebound off the cross bar in the 61st minute.
Jenna Phelps picked up the win for the Huskies after stopping all three shots on goal by the Eagles.
The Huskies finished the match with a 7-6 advantage in shots, and the Eagles held a 2-1 mark in corner kicks.
About the Series:
The Panthers are 1-0-1 against the Huskies. ODU tied last season 2-2 in double overtime on Panther Field.
