About the Panthers:
After opening GLIAC play at 2-0, ODU went 0-1-1 this past weekend falling to Tiffin,1-0, just over two minutes into the second overtime at home on Friday and rallying to tie Findlay in regulation and holding on for a 1-1 draw through two extra sessions on the road Sunday.
ODU keeper Dean Dziewit (So./Waterford, MI) appeared to make the diving save on Michael O'Neill's golden goal for the Dragons, but his momentum carried him off his line and he was unable to corral the ball before it crossed the goal line.
Senior Felix Darko (Reynoldsburg, OH) saved the Panthers from their second loss of the weekend with his third score of the year in the 83rd minute against the upstart Oilers. His 21st goal of his career ties him for sixth on ODU's all-time career goals chart. Three of ODU's six games have gone to additional time with the Panthers holding a 0-2-1 mark in those contests.
About the Timberwolves:
No. 22 Northwood is now the lone unbeaten team in the GLIAC after earning a 1-0 win over previously undefeated Saginaw Valley State last Friday. Despite being outshout for the first time this year (7-4) and playing a man down for the final 17:32 of the contest, the Timberwolves scratched out the win as the lone goal was scored by GLIAC Player of the Week, Vinnie Vasilevski, with the assist going to Keith Lough. Lough has registered at least one point in all five games played and currently ranks third in the GLIAC in points per game (11) and goals (4) and is tied for second with three assists.
About the Golden Eagles:
The two-time defending West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champs have won two straight after beginning the year 2-3-0, with three of the four wins coming via a shutout. With a pair of goals in Monday's win over the District of Columbia, Rob Vincent leads the Golden Eagles with four scores and eight points, while Dion Peters has a team-high three assists.
The Series:
Since 2009, the Panthers are 3-0-0 all-time against Northwood, including a pair of wins last year. ODU has never allowed a goal to the Timberwolves in that time posting shutouts of 2-0, 2-0 and 3-0. Friday night marks the third meeting between the Golden Eagles and ODU with the series all square at 1-1. Last season, the Panthers upset No. 4 UC, 2-1, on the road as Joe Pissocra tied the game with 17 seconds remaining and Justin Wheeler scored the game-winner in the first overtime.
