After two hard-fought halves, the Panthers and Cavaliers finished level. Despite the tie, ODU outshot Walsh 13-9, with five shots on goal. The Panthers also held the advantage in corner kicks, earning eight to Walsh's two.
The match was a physical one, with ODU committing 14 fouls to Walsh's nine. The Cavaliers were shown two yellow cards on the day.
Joseph Deitering started in goal for the Panthers in the first half, recording four saves. Fellow senior Gannon Graf took over in the second half and added one save to keep the clean sheet intact.
Senior Veron Fongeh and Emmanuel Frimpong led the Black and Gold with two shots apiece—Frimpong putting both on target, while Fongeh added one on goal. Seniors Blaivon James, Brenton Molli, Brad Leonard, and Lucas Baker each registered a shot, while freshman Hayden Hoelting also contributed two attempts.
