Three School Records Set at G-MAC Championships

ASHLAND, Ohio  – The Ohio Dominican Panthers outdoor track and field concluded the season with the Great Midwest Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Ashland University this weekend.

Three school records fell and 12 personal bests were notched over the three-day event at Ferguson Field between Wednesday (April 30) and Friday (May 2). The men finished eighth as a team with 15 points scored as the women were 11th of 12 teams, scoring seven points.

  • Peyton Proffitt: 4.01 meters in the pole vault for the ODU school record
4th Place Finish
  • Virtner Crews: Set the ODU school record in the 100 meter prelims with a 10.66 second PR to qualify for the finals; ran a 10.53 second PR in the finals (*wind was too high to qualify as school record, +2.4 m/s*)
5th Place Finishes
  • Men's 4x100 Relay (Chandler, Crews, Obas, Prewitt): 42.17 seconds
  • Aboubacar Soumahoro: 13.66 meter PR in the triple jump
7th Place Finish 8th Place Finish
  • Women's 4x100 Relay (Ambos, Haring, Pemberton, Yancey): 49.80 seconds
Other Finishes
  • Eayuel Gebrtsadik: 9th place in the 1500 meter finals with a 4:01.61 time (8th in ODU history) after a 4:00.23 prelims time (2nd best time in program history)
  • Merrick Shorter: 11th place for the 1500 meter finals at 4:14.41 with a 4:00.28 PR time in the prelims (3rd fastest time in program history)
  • Men's 4x400 Relay (Barry, Hall, Obas, Soumahoro): 3:31.76 time
  • Faith Yancey: 14th in the 100 meter prelims with a 12.60 second time; 14th for the 200 meter prelims at a 26.01 second PR; school record and PR of 5.20 meters in the long jump in 17th place
  • Nikane Ambos: 15th place in the 400 meter hurdle prelims with a PR of 1:11.91
  • Shyla Pemberton: 15th place in the 200 meter prelims at 26.22 seconds (PR); 12.95 seconds in the 100 meter prelims for a 21st place finish
  • Ismael Obas: 11.05 seconds in the 100 meter prelims for 19th place; 5.69 meters for the long jump in 19th place; 20th place in the 200 meter prelims at 22.61 seconds
  • Joseph Chandler: 20th place in the 100 meter prelims on a PR of 11.10 seconds; 21st place in the 200 meter prelims on a time of 22.77 seconds
  • Naomi Haring: Ran a 28.54 second 200 meter prelims time in 22nd place; 13.93 second time in the 100 meter prelims for 27th place
  • Eva Dulle: 24th in the 1500 meter prelims at 5:14.35; 2:34.61 PR in the 800 meter prelims, 27th place
  • Yagouba Barry: 21st in the 400 meter prelims at 51.94 seconds; 24th place for the 200 meter prelims on a 23.06 second time
  • Felix Prewitt: 25th place in the 100 meter prelims at 11.25 seconds
  • Aboubacar Soumahoro: 26th place in the 200 meter prelims (23.23 seconds)
