COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers football team took to the weight room in a unique fashion to raise money for the program. 67 football student-athletes competed in the inaugural Ironman Lift-A-Thon in the Student Recreational Center on Thursday (March 6). In total, a grand total of $15,550 was raised by the student-athletes for the first ever event, equating to $0.27 for every pound lifted that morning.
The team was divided via weight classes (Super Heavyweight, Heavyweight, Cruiserweight, Middleweight, and Flyweight) for competition in various lifts such as bench press, squat, power clean, and overhead press. Awards were given out for the top lifter in each weight class, position group, and the overall Iron Panther Award. This award is given to the strongest lifter on the team.
