Panthers Fall in Season Finale at Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. - To conclude the 2025 regular season, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (5-5, 4-5 G-MAC) football team went on the road to battle the Hillsdale Chargers (6-5, 5-4) on Saturday (Nov. 15) afternoon. 

Hillsdale defeated Ohio Dominican 31-14 at Frank "Muddy" Waters Stadium with 21 unanswered points in the final 26 minutes of the game. 

BOX SCORE NOTES

  • Carson Parker completed 19-of-35 passes for 192 yards and one interception. He was tied for the team lead in rushing yards with 34 yards on two carries but accounted for both touchdowns on the ground.  
  • Nathan Webster had ten carries for 34 yards and added one catch as well. 
  • Jayden Cornell finished his career with another 10 catch, 100+ yard game at wideout. Cornell led the Panthers with ten catches for 132 yards. 
    • He ended seventh all-time with 1,925 receiving yards and eighth with 149 career catches. Cornell is tied for 6th in career 100+ yard games and is tied for 5th with two games with at least ten catches (2). 
  • Gage Bodey made three catches for 36 yards while Connor Campbell had three catches with 12 yards. 
  • RJ Maddox had nine tackles with a sack.
  • Kaden Holmes added seven tackles including two tackles for loss. 
  • Jace Schaefer had one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss as a part of his five tackle day. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hillsdale scored first on their opening drive with a four-yard touchdown pass from Colin McKernan to Shea Ruddy three and a half minutes into the game. 
  • The Panthers tried to convert on fourth down for their first drive but could not continue the drive near midfield. The game was 7-0 until late in the second quarter. 
  • ODU got their first fourth down stop at the beginning of the second quarter, coming away with a pass break-up by Romearo Wells in the red zone. 
  • The Chargers added a 36-yard field goal with 3:29 left before halftime by Dylan DeDario, making the game 10-0. 
  • Nine plays and 75 yards later, Parker capped a scoring drive with a one-yard QB sneak to cut the Hillsdale lead to 10-7 with 1:25 left in the half. 
  • After the halftime break, the Panthers went on another scoring drive of nine plays and 75 yards. For the second straight drive, Parker had a one-yard QB run for a score as the Panthers led 14-10. 
  • Hillsdale answered with their own one-yard QB score by McKernan to retake a 17-14 lead with 4:45 left. 
  • Two fourth quarter touchdowns sealed the win for the Chargers as Eli Boyce hit Tutt Carrico for seven yards and McKernan and Ruddy connecting for an 80 yard score.
