Four School Records Fall at Great Midwest Championships

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican Panthers indoor track and field team closed out the indoor season with a showing in the 2025 Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Championships inside the Niss Athletic Center. 

With four school records falling and two podium finishes, the Panthers tallied 21 personal bests. Both teams scored seven points, with the women tying for ninth place and the men were 10th place. 

2nd Place Finishes
  • Peyton Proffitt: 3.88 meters – school record and ODU conference championship record, set best finish in event at conference championships (tied best event in any event)
3rd Place Finishes
  • Virtner Crews III: Tied his school record in the 60 meters with a 6.83 second mark in the finals, 6.84 seconds in the prelims (1st and 2nd in the conference championship record books within ODU) - hit provisional mark in both events
    • 3rd place is the best conference finish for the 60 meters
8th Place Finish
  • Eayuel Gebrtsadik: Set the ODU record for the Mile, clocking in at 4:13.96 (conference championship school record); 2nd best program finish in the mile
Other Finishes
  • Eayuel Gebrtsadik: 8:35.55 for the 3000 meters (2nd best time in the program's history) for 9th place; best finish in program history in the event and top conference championship time
  • Merrick Shorter: 8:36.17 in the 3000 meters for 11th place as the 3rd best time in program history); school record of 15:07.33 in the 5000 Meters for 12th place (his 12th place finish was the 2nd best conference finish in the event)
  • Women's 4x400 Relay (Pemberton, Ambos, Haring, Yancey): 4:33.65 time as the 9th best conference championship time in program history
  • Men's 4x400 Relay (Barry, Obas, Chandler, Prewitt): 3:38.10 time in the event
  • Aboubacar Soumahoro: 1.85 meters in the high jump in 13th place
  • Faith Yancey: 60 meter PR of 7.92 seconds in the prelims for 14th place (9th fastest time in the conference championships for ODU); 19th place with a 26.15 second PR in the 200 meter prelims (7th fastest time in the conference championship)
  • Ismael Obas: Finished the 60 meter prelims with a PR of 6.98 seconds in 14th place (tied for 6th place in the conference championship record books); 20th place with a 22.60 second PR in the 200 meter prelims
  • Shyla Pemberton: 18th place PR of 1:01.68 in the meters (6th best conference championship time); 22nd place in the 200 meter prelims with a 27.28 second time
  • Felix Prewitt: Personal best in the 60 meter prelims with a 7.13 second time, 22nd place; 23.62 second PR in the 200 meter prelims (28th place)
  • Joseph Chandler: PR of 7.17 seconds in the 60 meter prelims for 23rd place; 23rd place in the 200 meter prelims (23.15 seconds)
  • Yagouba Barry: 23rd place with a 400 meter PR of 52.95 seconds
  • Nikane Ambos: 8.28 seconds PR in the 60 meters with the 25th fastest mark in prelims; PR of 27.99 seconds in the 200 meter prelims with a 25th place finish
  • Edward Devaney: PR of 4:52.00 in the mile for a 27th place
  • Gabrielle Reed29th place in the mile with a PR of 5:49.22 (7th best conference championship time for the program)
  • Naomi Haring: 29th place with a 200 meter prelim time of 29.55 seconds; 36th place in the 400 meters, clocking in at 1:11.21
  • Jamarion Hall: 54.60 seconds in the 400 meters, finishing 30th place with his second best time of the year
  • Aileen Castillo: PR of 5:59.04 in the mile, finishing 31st place 
  • Eva Dulle: 2nd best 3000 meter time of the season with a 11:30.80, 32nd place 
  • Blake Murgatroyd: 9:17.23 for the 3000 meters in 32nd place (2nd best time of the season)
  • Brandon Ammons: 32nd place in the shot put with a 10.23 meter mark
  • Anna Blackstone: 12:21.98 for the 3000 meters in 35th place (3rd best time of the season)
  • Alyza Camp: 2nd best time of the season in 3000 meters, 13:15.81 in 37th place
