Panthers Prep for Conference Meet; Gebrtsadik Breaks Mile Record

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican Panthers indoor track and field team prepared for the 2025 Great Midwest Championships with a final tune-up meet in Ashland on Saturday (Feb. 22) afternoon. 

Two runners snapped school records in the same event with eight top eight finishes and 15 personal bests within the Niss Athletic Center - the site of the G-MAC Championships next week. 

1st Place Finish 4th Place Finishes
  • Isaac Eugene: 2nd fastest 200 meter time of the season, 22.56 seconds
  • Merrick Shorter: PR of 4:17.62 in the Mile, also breaking the old school record to sit 2nd in program history
6th Place Finishes
  • Isaac Eugene: Ran a 50.36 second time for the 400 meters, his 2nd best time of the season
  • Ismael Obas: Finished the 60 meter finals with a 7.10 second time after a 7.09 second prelims mark
  • Peyton Proffitt: 3.57 meters – 5th highest mark in program history

  • Ismael Obas: Season-best 22.90 seconds in the 200 meters
Other Finishes
  • Joseph Chandler: PR of 23.24 seconds for the 200 meters, finishing 9th place; ran a 7.31 second time in the 60 meter prelims (14th place)
  • Shyla Pemberton: 11th place PR in the 60 meter prelims, running a 8.26 second time; 12th place in the 200 meters with a 27.04 second time (season-best)
  • Felix Prewitt: Set personal bests in both the 60 meters and 200 meters - 13th in the 60 meter prelims (7.28 seconds) and 16th for the 200 meters (23.90 seconds)
  • Nikane Ambos: 13th place for the 60 meter prelims with a season-best 8.38 seconds; set season-best mark in 200 meters with a 28.89 second run for 19th place
  • Jamarion Hall: PR's in the 400 meters (53.43 seconds) and 200 meters (24.72 seconds), finishing 14th and 20th place in each
  • Yagouba Barry: 14th place for the 400 meters with a 53.63 second time; reached a PR for the 200 meters of 24.48 seconds in 19th place
  • Eva Dulle: PR in the Mile with a 5:36.83 time for 16th place
  • Blake Murgatroyd: 16th place PR in the Mile, 4:41.26
  • Gabrielle Reed18th place for the 800 meters with a season-low 2:39.35 time
  • Anna Blackstone: 19th place Mile PR of 6:05.02
  • Naomi Haring: 200 meter PR of 29.83 seconds for 20th place 
  • Aileen Castillo: Set PR of 2:48.52 in the 800 meters, finishing 20th place 
  • Brandon Ammons: 23rd place in the shot put with a 9.80 meter mark
The Panthers will head back to Ashland for the Great Midwest Championships, starting on Friday (Feb. 28) and running through Saturday (March 1st).
