COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican Panthers outdoor track and field team competed across Central Ohio in two different meets on Friday (April 19) evening. Most of the team competed on a cool evening at the Otterbein Twlight while one participant jumped at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State.
Three different school records were broken, including two 100 meter records and a 5000 meter mark was shattered. Countless other personal bests were achieved and ten Panthers finished in the top eight spots. At Otterbein, the men finished 9th of 19 teams with 35.5 points while the women totaled 15 points in 13th place (of 20 teams).
1st Place Finishes
- Brooke Armbrust (Grove City, Ohio) – outdoor record for the 100 meters (11.94 seconds) in the finals, ran a 12.03 second prelim (4th fastest time in program history)
- Eugene Boahen (Columbus, Ohio) – 100 meter school record of 10.67 seconds in both prelims and finals; 6th in the 200 meters with a 22.34 second time
3rd Place Finishes
- Owen Wilhelm (Sunbury, Ohio) – season-best and tied a career-best of 1.95 meters in the high jump
4th Place Finishes
- Isaac Eugene (Westerville, Ohio) – 400 meter PR of 50.17 seconds (3rd fastest ODU 400 meter time this season); 5th place in 100 meter prelims (10.96 seconds); 13th place in the 200 meters (22.73 seconds)
- Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) – school record in 5000 meters (15:07.26)
5th Place Finishes
- Ismael Obas (Columbus, Ohio) – 11.00 second 100 meter finals time after a 10.97 second prelim mark; 10th for the long jump, season best of 6.21 meters; 23.31 seconds in the 200 meters (29th place)
6th Place Finishes
- Aly Diaby – 50.85 seconds for the 400 meters; season-best 22.54 seconds in the 200 meters for 10th overall
- Kassydee Owens (Harlan, Kentucky) – season-best 400 meters time of 1:01.96; also finished with a 27.67 second time in the 200 meters (23rd)
7th Place Finishes
- Grace Pitt  (Hilliard, Ohio) – PR of 1:11.30 in the 400 meter hurdles, 5th fastest time in the program's history
Other Finishes
- G'nae Morrison (San Antonio, Texas) – 10th in the 100 meters with a 12.83 second prelim time; 14th overall in the 200 meters at 27.22 seconds
- Cole Miller (Bainbridge, Ohio) – 12th at Ohio State for the long jump, best mark of 6.83 meters
- Tyler Wallace (Columbus, Ohio) – 11.14 seconds in the 100 meter prelims (12th place)
- Nikane Ambos (Wapakoneta, Ohio)Â - 13th in the javelin throw with a PR of 19.91 meters
- Benjamin Seely (Chesterton, Indiana) – 14th for the 200 meters at 22.84 seconds; 22nd at the 100 meter prelims with an 11.29 second time
- Shyla Pemberton (Dayton, Ohio) – outdoor season-best in the 400 meters, 1:04.29 in 15th place; outdoor PR in the 200 meters (27.47 seconds) in 19th place
- Tyra McClain (Van Wert, Ohio) – 20th in the mile at 6:05.70, an outdoor PR
- Manny Codjoe (Bolingbrook, Illinois) – season-best in 400 meters at 54.54 seconds for 23rd place; another season-best 100 meter time of 11.53 seconds in prelims (39th place); 24.23 seconds for 200 meters
- Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) – set a mile (indoor and outdoor) PR of 6:18.98, 25th place
- Blake Wilson (Medina, Ohio) – 25th in the 400 meters at 55.02 seconds
- Mustafa Al-Saibawi (Columbus, Ohio) – outdoor PR of 11.57 meters in the shot put, 26th place
- Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) – 800 meter PR of 2:03.17 for 26th place
- Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) – overall PR in the mile (4:50.76), finished in 28th place
- Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) – clocked in at 6:24.92 for the mile, 28th place
- Gabrielle Reed (Pickerington, Ohio) – outdoor PR in the 800 meters (2:37.79) in 32nd place
- Yagouba Berry (Columbus, Ohio) – 2nd fastest 800 meter time of the season (2:04.65), 33rd place
- Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) – PR for the 5000 meters (19:47.77), 40th place
- Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) – outdoor PR for the 5000 meters (16:02.42) in 45th place
- Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) – 48th overall in the 5K with a 20:13.50
- Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) – PR of 21:40.51 for the 5000 meters, 54th place
- Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) – 5000 meter debut for track (16:26.30), finishing 56th place
Ohio Dominican will compete at the Walsh Tune-Up next Thursday (April 25) before the G-MAC Championships the following week. Â
