COLUMBUS, Ohio - After setting a program best low round in the first round, the Ohio Dominican Panthers women's golf team finished the Champions of Women's Golf Classic with a bang on Sunday (Sept. 17).
The Panthers shot another team round of 301, tying the school record for team round set on Saturday (Sept. 16). With the round of 301, ODU totaled a program-best 36 hole total of 602. This was also the best overall team total in the three years of the event at Champions Golf Course.
For the 13th time in the program's history, the Panthers ended an event as the tournament champions.
Abbey Dillon (Bolivar, Ohio) shot 4-over-par 74 on Sunday as she was the best finisher for the Black and Gold. Dillon was all alone in second place with a 146 total, six over for the event. She tied the program best for 36 holes, tying Jamie Ellison from the Screaming Eagle Golf Classic in September 2014.
Caroline Tragesser (Murrysville, Pennsylvania) jumped 11 spots on the final day with a career-low round of 2-over-par 72 and finish tied for third. She tied Dillon's first round and two others in the program to shoot 72. Her 36 hole total was 149, the third best event in program history.
Sydney Devore (New Philadelphia, Ohio) finished in fifth place after a 77 in the second round. Her total of 150 is tied for fourth best in the program's history.
Meg Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) repeated her first round score of 80 in the second round for a 160 total, setting a 36-hole personal best. She was tied for 35th place.
Ana Reed (Denton, Texas) tied her career-low with a 78 as she finished with a 161 total. She tied her personal best for a 36-hole event.
Ellyn Deibel (Lancaster, Ohio) followed up her 79 with an 83 on Sunday for 162 overall. Deibel beat her best career 36-hole score by three strokes.
Alyssa Newsom (Granville, Ohio) ended the tournament with an 86 on Sunday, shooting 164 overall.
Morgan Cornwell (Somerset, Ohio) completed her round with an 84, scoring 171 in the overall standings.
Alana Miller tallied her lowest round as a Panther with an 88 on the final day of the event.
Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) shaved three strokes off of round one for a 94 in the final round. Miller and Ochs compiled total scores of 180 and 191, respectively.
Ohio Dominican will travel to Ashland next weekend for the Ashland Eagle Fall Invite on Saturday (Sept. 23) and Sunday (Sept. 24).
