COLUMBUS, Ohio - In the first round of the 2023 Fall season, the Ohio Dominican Panthers women's golf team kicked off the opening round of the Champions of Women's Golf Classic in style. 

The Panthers broke the school record for team round on Saturday (Sept. 16), shooting a 301. ODU's previous record was 306, set on September 12, 2022 at the Charleston Invitational. 

Through the first 18 holes, Ohio Dominican is two shots behind the leading team, Gannon. The Panthers are second of 14 teams entering day two on Sunday. 

Abbey Dillon (Bolivar, Ohio) led the Panthers with a two-over-72, sitting in a second place tie. Dillon's score of 72 is tied for the third-lowest score in program history and her career-low. She added three birdies. 

Sydney Devore (New Philadelphia, Ohio) followed Dillon with a three-over-73, as the fourth lowest round of the program history. The sophomore is tied for fourth overall and led all players with 14 pars. 

Caroline Tragesser (Murrysville, Pennsylvania) tied her career-best round of 77 on Saturday. She is seven over in a 14th place tie. 

Alyssa Newsom (Granville, Ohio) was the top individual on the Panthers at a 78, tied for 20th place. 

Ellyn Deibel (Lancaster, Ohio) hit a career-low round as she shot 79 on the Champions links with two birdies. She is tied for 27th place with her teammate Meg Saffell (Somerset, Ohio), as an individual, one stroke behind with an 80. 

Ana Reed (Denton, Texas) tallied an 83 to round out the record-setting group for ODU. 

Morgan Cornwell (Somerset, Ohio) finished up her round with an 87 overall. 

Alana Miller made her Panther debut with a round of 92. 
 
Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) completed the Panther lineup with a 97. 

The second round of the Champions of Women's Golf Classic will resume on Sunday (Sept. 17) at 9:00 AM.
