Softball Takes A Trip To Glenville State For Two Games On Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican softball team ventures east for another weekend invitational hosted by Glenville State University. The Panthers will play two games on Saturday.

The Black and Gold will open with Frostburg State on Saturday morning before playing the Pioneers of Glenville State. The games that were set for Sunday have been canceled.

Opening First Pitch

  • The Panthers are 7-10 in the 2023 campaign before entering the weekend in West Virginia.
  • After going 7-11 from the plate, collecting a .636 batting average and stealing two bases, junior Alli Madden (Cincinnati, Ohio) snagged G-MAC Player of the week honors. Madden posts a .417 batting average and a .438 on base percentage with nine stolen bases on the season so far.
  • Following her is fellow outfielder Kaleigh Golden (Thornville, Ohio) with a .375 batting average. The sophomore has nine RBIs with two triples and six walks.
  • In the circle, Marlee Jacobs (Plain City, Ohio) has notched a 5-2 record, going 2-0 over the weekend with a 4-0 shutout in Saturday's game. The freshman has 32 strikeouts with a 2.32 ERA in 45.1 innings pitched.

About Frostburg State

  • Ohio Dominican and Frostburg State meet for the first time in the Division II Era this weekend.
  • The Bobcats hold a 9-2 mark thus far and are on a two game winnings streak going into the Glenville State Invitational.
  • Junior Sierra Sanderson sits at the top with a .533 batting average (16-30) with starts in all 10 contests. Sanderson has seven stolen bases, two doubles, and a triple. Freshman Ashlynn Routzahn leads the Bobcats with 18 RBIs and six homeruns, posting a 1.269 slugging percentage.
  • On the rubber, sophomore Allyssa Albright has a 3-0 record with 14 strikeouts in 14.0 innings pitched. Albright nets a 2.57 ERA with one save.

About Glenville State

  • The Pioneers and the Panthers last met during the 2014 season with ODU winning both games and holding a 2-0 Division II Era record.
  • Glenville enters the weekend with a 4-8 record with a 2-1 mark against Great Midwest opponents. Over their spring break trip, GSU defeated Findlay (8-1) and Walsh (6-2), but fell to Trevecca (6-2).
  • Through their first five games, senior Ashton Palmer has a .300 batting average (3-10) with a .400 slugging percentage and a .417 on base percentage.
  • In the circle, Holly Brehm leads the Pioneers with a 1-1 record, collecting an ERA of 0.84 in 16.2 innings pitched. Brehm has 26 strikeouts in her three appearances, allowing only 11 hits.
