Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO, Tennessee - The Ohio Dominican Panthers baseball team concluded the Tennessee swing with a second day of games against the Wayne State Warriors. After playing in Nashville on Sunday, the series moved to Blackman High School in Murfreesboro on Monday (March 6).
Ohio Dominican fell 14-3 in the first game before sitting on the wrong end of a 5-1 second game score.
GAME ONE
The Warriors opened the game with three runs in the first inning before Ohio Dominican was able to bat. Jordan Daniels (Blacklick, Ohio) reached on an error as the leadoff batter. The next batter, Jack Mathey (Copley, Ohio) put a ball down the left field line for a RBI double.
Wayne State put two runs back on the board in the second inning before adding seven runs in the fifth inning for a 12-1 advantage.
In the fifth inning, Ohio Dominican scored two runs without putting a ball in play. Alex Brill (Amherst, Ohio) walked and moved up to second base on a wild pitch. David Silva (Tontogany, Ohio) followed with a walk of his own. A wild pitch got both runners into scoring position before a pitching change. Back-to-back wild pitches brought Brill and Silva home with Daniels walking on that bat.
The scoring concluded in the sixth inning with two final runs for the Warriors.
Mathey and Michael O'Callaghan (Morrow, Ohio) had hits in the game. Brill and Silva each walked twice while Daniels joined them in walking once and scoring.
GAME TWO
The Panthers used some erratic pitching in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Sam Battles (Norwalk, Ohio) lined a one-out single to center field. Brennan Hunt (Ashland, Ohio) walked and Daniels was hit by a pitch to put Panthers everywhere. Mathey was hit by a pitch to force in a run as Battles scored.
Wayne State closed the game with five straight runs, scoring three runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth inning.
Michael Lesiecki (Uhrichsville, Ohio) started the game with three innings pitched. He allowed three runs before turning the ball over to Myles Martinez (Columbus, Ohio). Martinez scattered two runs in a season-high three and a third innings with four strikeouts.
Lane Marshall (Wooster, Ohio) got the final two outs of the game with two punchouts.
Brill, Battles and Mason Kurtz (Ostrander, Ohio) each had singles as ODU totaled three hits.
The Panthers will face Northwood in a non-conference series in Chillicothe, Ohio, beginning on Friday (March 10). As of now, the series is scheduled to play out over three days.
