COLUMBUS, Ohio – After many delays, the Ohio Dominican softball team is finally heading to Tiffin University on Tuesday (March 28) afternoon before returning home on Wednesday (March 29) to host the sixth-ranked University of Indianapolis.
In their conference opener, the Black and Gold won a pair of games at Findlay. Gracie Jo Thompson (Ashville, Ohio) led the way for the Panthers going 5-7 from the plate (.714) with three doubles and three RBIs. Sophomore Kaleigh Golden (Thornville, Ohio) followed with a .625 batting average, going 5-8 from the plate with three stolen bases.
On the rubber, both Marlee Jacobs (Plain City, Ohio) and Samantha Schaefer (Louisville, Ky.) picked up another win. Jacobs pitched a 6.0-inning shutout with five strikeouts. Schaefer came in and pitched 3.0 innings, allowing no runs and only two hits.
About Tiffin
- The Dragons sit at 8-15 this spring after dropping their conference opener at Hillsdale on Sunday afternoon.
- TU is second in the conference in total stolen bases with 44 and third in home runs with 10.
- Senior Caitlin Wilson leads Tiffin with a .345 batting average, collecting 19 hits with three being doubles. Junior Taylor Whalen has 15 stolen bases, leading the team and third in the G-MAC.
- In the circle, Isabella St. Peter has a 3.68 ERA in 59.0 innings pitched, holding a 3-5 record. The junior has 25 strikeouts on the season with fellow pitcher, Claire Feldkamp, having 37.
- The Dragons hold a 16-15 record over the Panthers in the Division II Era after the pair split a season ago with Tiffin taking game one, 6-4, and Ohio Dominican winning game two, 11-4.
About Indianapolis
- The Greyhounds are 26-3 on the season, ranked sixth in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
- UIndy leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference in a number of categories including batting average (.320) and shutouts (10).
- Megan Nichols is fourth in the GLVC with 38 hits and has a .400 batting average. The sophomore has 19 stolen bases and 17 RBIs.
- In the circle, Kenzee Smith holds a 16-3 record with a 2.19 ERA. Smith has 108 strikeouts and four shutouts on the season thus far.
- The Greyhounds are 20-7 against the Panthers with a split coming a season ago. ODU took game one 4-0 with UIndy taking game two, 10-2.

Ohio Dominican travels to Tiffin on Tuesday for a doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM at Paradiso Athletic Complex. On Wednesday, the Panthers host UIndy for a doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM at Panther Field.
